Fair enough, definitely some people go too far in criticising players. However unless he consistently plays at the level he played on saturday night, I still think he is potential trade bait. While he definitely has some great qualities, i think we as a club can and need to trade some of our youngsters for experienced players.Nath wrote:Its not point scoring sherrife, its more along the lines of everyone says we are soft, but Richie has a full on go at every contest. So his skills let him down at times, so do most of our young players. Not having a go at you either cos I haven't seen you as one overly pushing the Cole thing, merely saying that because he puts a couple of bad performances in everyone sinks the boots into him, merely pointing ou how fickle some people are.....and IMO if you are going to go out and say a guy is no good and not worth it and should be traded, you should cop it on the chin if he comes out of a bad patch. If he plays poorly next week, feel free to have a go back.sherrife wrote:Why does everyone keep saying this as if they won a victory? He's been playing pretty poorly for ages, we're all happy for him to play well, it's not like we a vendetta against him, he just hasn't been playing well.Nath wrote: 5. I see nobody has ragged out Richard Cole....interesting that.
Much improved on the weekend definitely in our best players, but why all the petty point-scoring?

bloody beautifully game of footy! dunno what half of you are carrying on about it being an ugly game of footy, whats a beautifully game look like? hawth v ess would have nice hair doo's but look like a bunch of handbaggers.
"Concerns rocca 11 possessions 9 CLANGERS" had 2 possessions and 4 clangers at one stage, Ant was once again at the mercy of some very very poor umpiring.
"Any team that has Rhyce in it's side cannot be that good."
"Rhyce has to go, no contest if he actually has to be physical."
and you give O'bree a wrap? lol don't let your dislike of shaw get in the way of the truth.
"Malthouse said the 10-20 free kick outcome was a continuation of decision-making that had frustrated his players this season."
the free kick count was actually 12 - 25 we kept a count of them this week , how the afl can get away with fudging the stats is beyond me, and every jurno quotes them as gospel!

yep thats right, my dad counts them religiously it was worse at the filth game, they were out by about 10. I think at one stage they only added 1 for the quarter for the filth but they actually had about 7!MagpieMad wrote:

I saw a lot to like about the team and their attitude on Friday night. Mainly, they started running at the ball and winning the hard ones. The first quarter was a debacle and enough's been said about the lop-sided free kick count but it is not coincidence that Adelaide lost their initial momentum once the free kicks evened out a bit from the 2nd quarter on. Frankly, we should have won the game by about ten goals.
The backline looked solid, except for the panic stations at the end (I can't remember ever seeing the guys, especially Clement, panic like that!), and Wakes redeemed himself from last week with a near-BOG on Carey. Maxwell played like he'd been on our half-back flank all his life and Cole made some tremendous runs. With those two playing well, it released Johnno to play further upfield and we benefited greatly from his on-ball play.
Richards played his best game and gave our midfield stacks of the ball. Licuria started to play at something like his Copeland form. When Fraser comes back, we'll see the makings of a ruck duo to rival Thommo and Jerker at their best. A functioning forward line, with Taz BOG and creating havoc every time he went near the ball, we created heaps of opportunities. Some missed "sitters" made the game look much closer on the scoreboard than it really was. Adelaide didn't look like scoring again after their 6th, such was our around the ground dominance but scoring seven straight behinds meant we didn't take advantage of it.
'Tis amazing what a win has done to people's confidence on this Board. Humour, even (see the Maxwell post if you haven't already)! With a bit of luck and a couple more wins before the mid-season break, we won't be far out of the Eight and there's every reason to believe we can go on a run once we get all the senior players back. Also, there will be a fairish amount of pressure on people to keep their place in the side in the second half of the season, which can only be to our benefit.
Roll on Saturday night.

Hopefully it'll be cured with the added confidence of the victory.

Culprit - I an sick of people coming here and slagging off Rhyce Shaw. He is still the fastest and one of the classiest players at the club. Like his uncle he will only get better as he gets older and with Brayden and Heath to come into the team next year, Rhyce will be a leader of the club and future possible captain.
Then all you Brissy Lions supporters will laugh on the other side of your faces..

Rhyce Classy? That is blasphemy putting those two words in the same sentence..
You're kidding right? Yes he is fast, does not mean shit if you cannot win the ball. He is a receiver and the only reason he is still at Collingwood is because of his last name. If his last name were Smith he would have been delisted last year.
The only future captain that has the name Shaw is Brayden.
Fair enough MM, but I was being more sarcastic about him actually playing.

Just a quick post before I have to go to a lecture. It was great to see the Pies finally get another on the board. Very happy about that.
The umpiring was a farce, and it is beyond a joke. Tarrant kicked 5, but should have had six, if the stupid ump didn't pay a BS free kick.
Anyway, I will try and post some more later if I get a chance.
GO PIES!

Theres no doubt some of the free kicks paid (and NOT paid) were atrocious. But overall it was a good fight back by the boys to come from behind and win.
Loved Richie Cole's game and was so happy for him to put a good one on finally!
Taz was the difference - awesome and beautiful to watch
Rocca must give us more, too many stuff ups and dropped too many marks
Ditto Didak - but boy is he exciting! He just needs to gain some confidence
Loved Johnno, Licca, Wakes, Woey.
To all those people who think losing games and gaining draft picks is a good idea, did you see the look on the faces of all the supporters there and the players faces???!!! Looked pretty rapt to me. Was great to heatr the supporters sing the song with gusto.
How could anyone want to swap that feeling for losing every week? The players would be feeling better in themselves, and we supporters didnt have another weekend ruined for us!
