The last player to wear 35 before Nick was Oliver Henry.

And its obvious the importance of that number and why he was wearing it in the first place means nothing to him now.

Nick deserves it.

Surprised that there was no announcement at the Copeland. Wonder if this is still happening?

coz we made the finals I promised myself I'd buy the new 2022 Nike CFC home jumper and got the number 35 in anticipation

mind you, I couldn't get it for the first week of the finals on the day of the game because the club had sold out ages ago

I did some research and got it in time for the 2nd final at an AFL Store in Southland, and the numbers at the Sportmart store in Moorabbin, because the 3 was sold out at most stores - Ginivan's no 33 has been very popular

knowing my predicament, the afl store put the numbers on free of charge

Oliver Henry obviously didn't learn anything by receiving this number.

Let's find another way to honour Presti. Perhaps something to do with a player making his debut? I dunno?

Nicky D is officially wearing number 35. No word from Josh hehe.

Presti can find a positive in all the 35 merch he’ll get to market now. ;)

And our old foe common sense finally prevails...

That whole Presti tribute thing worked well for 10 years or so; it was a solid gesture instigated by the previous regime.

However, it was only valid until the Chosen One arrived, and claimed what was rightfully his by Birth rite; which he did.

Ben Allan wore 7 for Freo and 15 for the Hawks. Josh currently has 7 and Kreuger is in 15. Ed wore 5 for Claremont and (i think) 29 for WA.

So 29 could be the go for him.

Give Josh number 3 and Nick number 5. Wouldn’t work if one or the other is dropped/injured though

Neither of them are in any danger of getting dropped any time this decade.

And I totally forbid either of them getting injured in 2023.

Yeah I shouldn’t mozz us. Like saying MacBeth backstage at a theatre. But bloody hell Nick looks like he’ll take 2023 to another level, going by his track work this week! Been hitting the weights too

The right decision for mine....I mean I could see it continuing if there wasn't such a good player, who is the son of the original #35, there to claim it, but fate is what it is.

Would be great to see the tradition continue if a similar situation arises for some unlucky Presti type

To be honest, it was a silly "tradition", giving Presti's number to our first draft pick to honour him for pulling out of a GF with injury, basically doing what you'd expect anyone genuinely team oriented to do.

I loved Presti as a player, he was limited but bloody effective, but Peter Daicos made the number famous and it's only right and fitting that his Son gets to wear it if he wants to.
