Thought Lokan provided alot of drive. He wasn't afraid to dash, take risks and his disposal is generally pretty good. Him and Johnno were similar last night.

McGough's kicking however...

Maxwell showed the poise i've seen him show for Williamstown.

I think there was one point in the game where McG had about 5 helicopter kicks in a row, some that went straight up in the air. He needs to work on his footskills a bit more.

I enjoyed the win as much as you.
No. Hang on.
I enjoyed the win MORE than you.

Just because the game was a complete and utter farce doesn't mean I didn't enjoy winning it.

Get on someone else's case, why don't you :x :x :x

Was i the only person to think,oh no it could be the blues vs pies game all over again. Snatch a win ahhhhh. But it didn;t happen woooohoooo :D Ok so it wasn;t pretty but a win is a win.

There r still improvements but as other people have said a win helps build players confidence.

Well done to all and even tho i love didak's marking power but can people tell him, keep your mind on kicking goals not trying to take the mark of the year :)

GO PIES

and i watched the game again on fox footy a few mins after the game on channel 9 finished.

I thought wakelin played well thru out the game not just the last quarter.

Maxwell made a pretty good debut. My choice for a nickname for him is "Agent" or "86". :)

Sheriffe: "Look he tries, and when he is near the ball he is probably an average player with good pace. But the problem is he has no football brain and is almost never in the right place! Me and my friend have this running joke where we watch him whenever he is on the field, and it is amazing how rarely he gets within 30 metres of the ball!"

TOO TRUE. People not at the game would have thought he played OK judging by the television. WRONG! He had the easiest role on the ground (he didn't have an opponent) running around like a chook with its head cut off, demanding the ball 50m through traffic, getting peeved when it wasn't given to him. He didn't want the ball, he puts in 3rd rate efforts at the contest (FFS he's playing AFL football, yet thinks it's just fine to put out a half-arsed hand at the contest). I wish he was a gun but he ain't. His ONE effort on Ricciuto was crucial, but it's not enough. He has had enough chances (for God's sake MM let him run free tonight and still couldn't find it).

TO THE GAME...
Umpiring was a DISGRACE. How late were some of their decisions (like Taz's 'push' in the 1st quarter)? McClaren (who I have hated for years and years - he seriously does not respect us) came running in as if to line up Tarrant, then tells him he pushed him out. It was as if they'd make up the decision just to piss us off. What about in the 2nd (or 4th) quarter, Hart was holding Tarrant's jumper so obviously, restricting him from reaching the ball, the umpire was right there, and ignored it. At least Tarrant is finally getting angry at the umpires whne this shit happens.

The game was the worst display of AFL I have ever witnessed. It it wasn't for Tarrant's brilliance, you would have been forgiven for thinking this was the VFL Reserves. Adelaide are BAD! Worse than us, their 'stars' look disinterested. How bad was Ricciuto? Collingwood should have won by at least 5 goals, but tried their hardest to lose.

For those saying Didak has lost confidence, what a load. He could have had 3 or 4 goals (should have had). The one where he dished off he was running away from the goals on his right foot under pressure, his handball just missed the mark. Yes, he missed from 15m out but I put this down to laziness, not lack of confidence - he ran in too slow and sure of himself. That's cockiness, not lack of confidence, and I'm all for cockiness on this team. Didak's a gun.

Question - Why did MM refuse to put Johnson in the guts, rest him after half time then put him up forward? I believe MM is trying the youngsters, and the result is secondary to the development of the team (unless Johnson was injured).

Maxwell looks a likely type.

P.S. After Adelaide's freekick-fest disappeared after qurter time, so did their goals. Interesting correlation that.

Best Players: Tarrant, Licuria, Wakelin, Woewodin, Richards

First off,Foreigner....whats up your nose. The guys played for 100 minutes. They put in 110% effort for 120% acheivement.
The only thing that I didnt appreciate was the fact that the Crows had 20 men on the park for the best part of 1/2 the game, the 18 players + the 2 umpires. That McClaren is a complete 'GOOF' and I still recon that a few of the frees given away against the PIES were to show who was 'boss,BUt as usual Rocca stood up for the boys at 1/2 time, had a few words to say the the umpires, and that seemed to put a differenmt complex on the game.
All over GREAT example of s hard torrid game.
My only question is 'Why havent they played like this for the past 8 games?????

Cam, great work, McG sure gave you a fair bit of ammo tonight, and you came through! Nothing like consistency.

I must admit, I am a big fan of his but you are correct, he is going to cost us, especially when in possession in the back pocket. Cripes, heart in mouth stuff. But he just keeps presenting, 10 marks last night, always in the right spot, especially when there is a man under pressure and looking for a way out.

So the question is, what does the club do to improve his disposal and decision making / composure, as I firmly believe he has too much footy smarts and reads the play too well to give up on. He is a classic example of how good coaches earn their keep, ie turning his obvious weaknesses into strengths. That is MMs challenge and I'm sure he will find a way, that is his job after all.

I think everyone is being a lil harsh on Rhys Shaw. Yes, it was far from what i think he is capable of and the level he should be playing at in the AFL. However, i can count 3 to 4 occasions when Rhys was unmanned 30m in clear when the Collingwood player with the ball chose to kick along the line to a 50-50 contest instead of kicking it to Rhys. I also think he done a lot of hark work (1%'s) last night, from memory laid 2-3 critical tackles and actually contested a bit rather than being easily beaten. Needs some new boots (footing is terrible) and some confidence in himself and some from his teammates and he'll be back to his best.

He's a gun but very short on confidence. He was an absolute dead-eye on the goals 2 years ago, i remember him being basically our designated kicker as he would NEVER miss. Now he is passing off at every opportunity and dropping easy marks.

By NO means am i giving up on him, he's a class act. But MM needs to develop techniques to build players' confidence in themselves, I don't think he does this very well at the moment (ie. Obree/Cole have been stagnant for the last 2 years).

I think this may be his weakness as a coach. Hopefully he can prove me wrong and does something for Didak's confidence as well as the sub-par disposal skills that McG and lots of others display regularly.

I just watched the Fox footy broadcast, and I'm still buzzing from last night! GO PIES!

McGough often marks and then takes 1 or 2 needless steps which cause him to be called to play on which stops out fluency.

Any other team would have beaten us. How bad are the Crows is what I am saying.

Happy to win as always, but nothing to get excited about.
