coz we made the finals I promised myself I'd buy the new 2022 Nike CFC home jumper and got the number 35 in anticipation
mind you, I couldn't get it for the first week of the finals on the day of the game because the club had sold out ages ago
I did some research and got it in time for the 2nd final at an AFL Store in Southland, and the numbers at the Sportmart store in Moorabbin, because the 3 was sold out at most stores - Ginivan's no 33 has been very popular
knowing my predicament, the afl store put the numbers on free of charge

Welcome to Collingwood #35 Nick Daicos
And our old foe common sense finally prevails...Mr Miyagi wrote:Nicky D is officially wearing number 35.
That whole Presti tribute thing worked well for 10 years or so; it was a solid gesture instigated by the previous regime.
However, it was only valid until the Chosen One arrived, and claimed what was rightfully his by Birth rite; which he did.

Yeah I shouldn’t mozz us. Like saying MacBeth backstage at a theatre. But bloody hell Nick looks like he’ll take 2023 to another level, going by his track work this week! Been hitting the weights toopiedys wrote:Neither of them are in any danger of getting dropped any time this decade.Mr Miyagi wrote:Wouldn’t work if one or the other is dropped/injured though
And I totally forbid either of them getting injured in 2023.

The right decision for mine....I mean I could see it continuing if there wasn't such a good player, who is the son of the original #35, there to claim it, but fate is what it is.
Would be great to see the tradition continue if a similar situation arises for some unlucky Presti type

To be honest, it was a silly "tradition", giving Presti's number to our first draft pick to honour him for pulling out of a GF with injury, basically doing what you'd expect anyone genuinely team oriented to do.
I loved Presti as a player, he was limited but bloody effective, but Peter Daicos made the number famous and it's only right and fitting that his Son gets to wear it if he wants to.
