I agree. They should give C2 a few games in a row & let him settle in. Not much point in giving Kinnear any more games. He's had enough chances & just doesn't fire up.Johnson#26 wrote:Williams must be dumped. He is a nervous wreck. Same with Benny Kinnear. Bring Cam Cloke in. He has been good so far and needs another go. As for Lokan, he does show dash, but at times runs too far and scrambles the kick. He has got better but still has a tendancy to mess up.

Yeah what did he do in the other 4?Johnson#26 wrote:Kinnear has had 50 chances and wasted about 46 of them. :s
Does the bloke know that this is his last year if he doesnt do something?
If he doesnt play well in a team on the bottom of the ladder how is he going to help get us off the bottom?

*Before I made my report, I didn't know that Burnsy and Presti wern't returning. Now I tip the Pies by 12 points.*
Collingwood vs Adelaide: Match Preview
B: Clement, Wakelin, Prestigiacomo.
HB: Johnson, J.Cloke, Lonie.
C: Woewodin, McGough, Licuria.
HF: Didak, Rocca, C.Cloke.
F: Davis, Tarrant, Cole.
R: Richards, Burns, O’Bree.
INTER: Nixon, Swan, Mullins, Lokan.
EMERG: Walker, Williams, Kinnear.
In: Burns, Prestigiacomo, C.Cloke.
Out: Walker, Williams, Kinnear.
At the start of the 2004 season, who would have predicted that Collingwood and Adelaide would be languishing at the bottom of the ladder, in 16th and 14th spots respectively? For the loser on Friday night, the repercussions could be disastrous, with the media baying for the losing coach’s blood. It’s time for Collingwood to stand up and show all it’s doubters why it had made the grand final two years in a row. They will win and win well. Here’s how they’ll do it.
Down back, the most dangerous and potent asset to the Crows forward line, Wayne Carey, will be the key to a Crows victory. No Carey, no North was a famous catch cry in the late 1990’s when the former Roo was in full power. He is not the player he once was, but he is still a dangerous player in full flight. Jason Cloke beat him comprehensively last time they met in round 20 2003 and will again get the big job. A player who tends to slip under opposition guards is Scott Welsh. Although he was a late withdrawal last week, Welsh should be ready to tackle the Pies. He has a lower profile compared to the other Crows players. He won’t be forgotten by Mick Malthouse and Shane Wakelin will be first to get the job. Ken McGregor has been played as a tall forward in recent weeks. He scored a career best 4 goals against Richmond and will have to be kept in check. Simon Prestigiacomo, back from a shin injury, will get the task of keeping the Guy Sebastian look-alike out of the action. As for the small forwards, Graham Johncock has done a fantastic job in recent weeks and is turning into Adelaide’s Steven Milne. Ben Johnson will be 1st to take on the speedster with Richard Cole on standby if Johnson is called for a run in the middle.
In the midfield, the Magpies receive a boost in the form of the every reliable Scott Burns. Burns’ 2 week layoff has severely hurt the Maggies in the middle and his bite around the packs will be a welcome addition. Shane Woewodin has run into some of his best form in the past 2 weeks, both times gathering over 25 possessions for the match. In round 7 last year, ‘Woey’ blitzed the Crows on his way to a match winning performance. Tyson Stenglein will get the job tagging the Brownlow Medallist. Mark McGough has been a revelation in the past 4 weeks after coming back from a pre-season hampered by ostius pubis. Stopping his clearances will be high on the Crows list. Paul Licuria has had a slow beginning to his 8th year of senior football with a pre-season disturbed by a calf injury. His return to form last week will surely help him this week as he will be given the job tagging the explosive Crow captain Mark Ruiccuto in the absence of Brodie Holland. Matthew Lokan did a fantastic job last year on Andrew McLeod and will have another crack at the duel Norm Smith Medallist. In the ruck, Rhett Biglands will return to the Crows senior line up after missing 4 weeks for charging Graham Polak. He will be pitted against the ever improving Guy Richards, who was fantastic against St.Kilda last week.
Up forward, Chris Tarrant and Anthony Rocca will be too tall and mobile for the Crows defence. With Nigel Smart and Ben Hart missing, the crows defence will be severally undermanned. Nathan Basset will take Rocca while Trent Hentshell, who has improved marketably this season, will take Rocca. On the ground, Alan Didak and Leon Davis were quiet last week against the Saints, and will look to bounce back to form. Nathan Bock could be called up to face Davis, while Brett Burton will look to run off Didak, hurting the Pies on the rebound.
In the wash-up, this should be a close contest, but the return of Burns and Prestigiacomo tips the pendulum towards the Pies.

Collingwood assistant coach Guy McKenna believes finals are not out of the equation for 2004, despite the fact the Magpies are sitting on the bottom of the ladder after eight rounds with a 1-7 win/loss ratio.

Talking with...Ryan Lonie: You Only Get One ChanceCollingwood coach Michael Malthouse says remaining upbeat and positive around the club is the only way the club can go forward, as the Magpies enter round nine with a 1-7 win/loss ratio.
Despite the six-game losing streak, Malthouse said the emergence of young ruckman Guy Richards was one such positive out of adversity, while he said that finals were the “furthest thing from my mind” and that the “next win” was the main priority.

Leadership, injuries, responsibility
Probably Ben Johnson and myself are around that 75 game mark now and having four or five of your best players out doesn’t help the side, but it give an opportunity for young guys to come in and show what they’re all about.
And if Ben and I can help the younger guys like the Richard Coles and the Dane Swans through their early stages, they’re going to be better for it.

My team for this week would be:
B: Cole Wakelin J.Cloke
HB: Lonie Walker Clement
C: Woewodin McGough Johnson
HF: Didak Rocca Lokan
F: Davis Tarrant Nixon
R: Richards Licuria O'Bree
Int: C.Cloke, Mullins, Shaw, Swan
In: C.Cloke, Shaw
Out: Kinnear, Williams
From all reports Rhyce Shaw was best on ground for Williamstown so this may earn him a recall and C.Cloke should be ready to return. Ben Kinnear has had too many chances to prove himself and should be dropped, and Williams is playing without much confidence at the moment so he should be dropped as well.

seems as though fraser will be back, he must be in the team.
For the first game for a few weeks I think we will win and are a good chance to kick more than 15 goals for the first time this season.
If fraser is back then he will be a big boost to our forward line. I would keep richards in the ruck and leave fraser in the forward line for most of the game. Didak would be good on a wing or in the centre to bring him into the game more.Tarrant showed a bit of form last week and leon has been better recently also. We need some consistancy from him and also rocca.
This game will be won in the centre, we need MCG to stay in the middle all game and feed the ball out to our playmakers like Woey and dids. I think Lokan could be used in a tagging role, maybe on Mcloud. Lica has improved and hopefully he will have a good game also. The player need to get used to us winning the ruck. I noticed many times last week and against the filth, we failed to get the ball out of the centre even though we won the hitouts.
My tip is the pies by 32 points.

Let Rhyce stay in top form for a month before putting him back in the seniors. AFL players are expected to be BOG for VFL matches! Kinnear isn't playing too badly at the moment, however i think we should fast-track one of the younger big men (Hall, Rowe.. whoever is big enough physically) as they can't possibly be much worse than Kinnear.peter_pies4ever wrote:My team for this week would be:

This is Williams' last shot, give him a month of full game time and if he doesn't perform then, he's gone at the end of this year. But give him this last chance first.

U are putting jason cloke in the same position as james hird... one of the worst and one of the best....it may work somehow... but let me tell u... clokey has practically 1-2% of the skill james hird has.. and to play the position as well as james hird would be a miracle..... im not slagging cloke...im just looking at the comparison u made....erniedog wrote:from the CFC website
.Another option if we're in experimental mode is j.Cloke in a Hirdlike role at the centre bounces. He's strong, supposed to read the ball well and courageous. May not have the reflexes or quick thinking, but you never know until you try.
