Loved it.

Cheap earbuds I've had for a couple of years were playing up, spotted a set of Samsung ones at the Thommo market for $30, still in original wrap, so I grabbed them.

Worked great for the 15 minutes they worked, batteries wouldn't charge or hold a charge, guess they'd been on the shelf too long empty.

So checked out the Telstra Rewards site, got a set of Blue Ant Pump Air X, retail around $150, for nothing using points.

Charged up today, tested, work perfect.

Reading that Australia might be buying the new B21 bomber. The fact that it triggered a response from the Global Times makes it the right thing to do.

Little tiny bit of warmth today, got some motivation up for first time in weeks.

Got up on the roof and cleaned the gutters ahead of the spring rains and did some gardening.

Pulled up stumps early and kicked back with a book I picked up at an op Shop, Jeff Thomson's biography written by Ashley Mallet. Good read so far.

Finally got the ute back.

Looks like I'm gonna need to take it to an autoelec, something's gone screwy with the computer, it keeps tripping a fault with the ABS and TRC but the Ute doesn't have either, and the steering wheel controls for the sound system don't work.

But he warned me about the "fault". He spent hours trying to trace the problem, even tried to reset the software. Never mind, It's back and it drives, good quality motor with new timing chain I should get another 3-5 years out of it for a lot less than buying a second hand shitbox that could break down any time.

Now I can hopefully relax.

109 km to Mornington and back (coffee stop in Mornington) went with a young woman friend who like me is getting the km’s up for our shot at the 210 km “Around the Bay in a Day” ride and fundraiser for the Smith Family. It hasn’t been run for the last 2 years.

Went up Beach Road, Nepean Highway, Kars Street Frankston, Baden Powell Drive back onto Nepean Highway. Going back it was all Highway & beach road.

I was a bit sore as I did a spin class on Saturday morning.

Got up to 61 kms/hr down Oliver’s Hill (I’ve got to 64 before but not for a few years). Down the Otways into Lorne I do a decent clip of about high 60’s. It’s quite exhilarating and worth the pain of the hills as I’m not built like a team member of the Columbian bicycle mountain riders. In the trade blokes my size are known (quite disparagingly) as Clydesdales

Having a great short holiday up north, just came back to the hotel after a bottle o run, walked past Davey Warner with his family and Marnus Labuschagne in the lobby, Marnus was mucking around for Daveys kids.

I didn't say anything, just looked and grinned. They're playing NZ in a 1 day game here in Cairns tomorrow.

Well, this is it. Start my last night at Roy Hill in a few hours. Will not miss doing nightshift one bit. Been a fun ride the last 4 years, leaving behind some great mates and plenty of good memories.
Just a bummer that a half brained manager had to come in and destroy the department.

New gig starts on the 19th, my first FIFO gig in the Goldfields. Not going to miss the heat or flies in the gascoyne/Pilbara.

Out to where my great great Aunty wrote many tales about the area...

She also put together our family tree book. Some amazing reading in there too. I had some distant relatives (2 brothers) that were taken from their home in England and sent to South Australia in their early teens to work on a sheep station (talk about a stolen generation!).

The stories of homes made with Hessian fabric as walls and gravel floors in the goldfields in extreme weather conditions are quite remarkable. They certainly were a lot tougher in the last century.

Agree Skids, I do a few night jobs and I really struggle and take a long time to recover. I am fine while working but feel really tired and down the rest of the time, Can't sleep can't think, it is shit!
