More talk of Frampton, so Frampton and/or Melican instead of McStay? Save a few pennies for Grundy's dowry?
https://www.afl.com.au/news/823965/cont ... crows-tall

CLUBS have been made aware Sydney defender Lewis Melican could be open to a trade despite being contracted for next year.

COLLINGWOOD is circling Adelaide big man Billy Frampton.
Frampton is still expected to be a key part of Adelaide's SANFL finals run later this year, having averaged 20.8 disposals and 7.4 marks per game at reserves level this season playing mainly as a key defender.

Melican 26 yrs, 195cm.
Frampton 25 yrs, 200cm. Has played ruck, forward and back.
McStay 27 yrs, 196cm.

I am not saying he's a great player, but he is the type of multi purpose big man who could provide cover to our current setup and buy some time for Begg to develop more??

Remember - we need role players to compliment the stars... Maybe he comes on a three year deal for not much and ends up playing a handful of games - but provides important depth. Maybe he has more potential than we have seen and a coaching group with strong development skills get more out of him (we see this a lot with ruckmen I reckon - they are crap until they're 27 - then they change club and become important contributors).
I felt all along IF ( ! ) Grundy was to be traded, we would need another 200cm player on our list. Frampton is an interesting one. There was a game earlier in the season where he was close to best on the ground but that didn’t turn into much more as the weeks rolled on. Think he played most of that game in defence.
I suspect Collingwood won’t be looking for a ruckman who specialises in tap outs but more someone around 200cm who can halve ruck contests and then allow a beefed up mid field group to get first hands on the ball more often
Certainly need another big man if Grundy leaves. Might not play too much (?) so wouldn't want to spend a whole lot on one but cant go into Season 2023 with only Cameron, Cox and Begg.
It's never as good/nor bad as it seems...

That will be very disappointing if we lose out to the Tigers yet again.

Tony Shaw, amongst others, reckons we are dead certs to get Weideman from the Deeees, simply cannot get a game there now, not as long as Sideshow Bob ,Ben Brown is around. And we should get him pretty cheap too, worth a punt, another forward option never hurts, hey.

The problem is he is not the genuine power forward we need. Neither is he all that good a footballer either imo.

I thought Collingwood was interested in Taranto only if JDG was leaving. Maybe this is a good sign that he won’t

Go hard for Sam Draper. Quite a few players disgusted with Essendon’s treatment of Rutter and it’s even worse now that Clarkson chose North. There’ll be several wanting to leave, so take advantage of it.

Any interest in Liam Stocker (Carlton)?
Drafted as a mid in the 2018 draft, played midfield in TAC for Sandy Dragons and won the 2018 TAC B&F.

Has been playing as medium defender at Carlton but probably better suited to midfield.

Not entirely happy at the Blues at the moment and out of contract at the end of 2022.

Not interested in a failed Carlton player.
He was a dud draft for Carlton made and he hasn't developed to any level of expectation and when he failed as a midfielder they tried to convert him to a defender and he has failed there as well. I doubt he will be playing AFL next year.

Interesting as he has not had a lot of opportunity to play midfield at Carlton.

Disagree that he won't be playing AFL next year as he has good skills just needs more opportunity.

Anyway, North has been actively contacting players & player agents during the past month in anticipation of signing Clarkson. As there have been previous reports of DeGoey being linked to North, they may use Clarkson signing as a lure (plus the $).
