I agree, Selwood generally has the hands out for the handball, its something Ginni could look to emulateWhat'sinaname wrote:If anyone wants to know why Ginni doesn't get frees and Selwood does, just watch Selwood. As much as he ducks, he also looks to get rid of the ball. Ginni just holds the ball and tries to suck the umpire into giving him a free.
^ I don't understand why people view Selwood differently. He was given his usual "ducking" free in the centre early on in the game yesterday and Cripps was so happy with the way Selwood staged for the free that he actually pushed Selwood's face into the turf and rubbed him into it. I haven't really seen that from Cripps, so I took it to be quite significant.

I try to be fairly balanced with my analysis of umps, but the umpiring was the worst I've seen in years, possibly since the 2016 grand final where they gifted it to the doggies against the Swans.
I know why the tackle count was high in the game - the Crows had about 10 actual tackles up to half time; the rest of them were because they were already hanging off the Pies player in front of them when the ball came by, and after half time we started doing the same. Terrible terrible umpiring, we've had many wet games this year and that hasn't been a feature.
The whole Ginnivan ducking or not - I have no issue with; the umpires dont want to encourage that behaviour, so they won't pay the free.
As long as it's consistent - and Im seeing it paid less and less around the league.
Ginni needs to remember he's still a fast, slippery, and very talented forward, and not depend on the free. Once he moves on from it, eventually they'll start paying them more, but you dont want to be defined by it, he's better than that.

The problem with the media attacking Ginnivan and yet celebrating Selwood as a champion is it’s because they celebrated Selwood and the umpires paid it is lots of kids from Ginnivans generation do it.
I’ve umpired a lot of football over the years and especially in the last 5-6 at junior levels, ducking and the Selwood shrug are constantly on the increase.

Jack is just a young kid for Chrissakes, and its not just the Umps. Never have i heard such booing by Opposition fans, as what he cops, other fans literally hate him, its real hate, and its pathetic, coming from many adults too, just constant loud boos, every time the kid gets the ball, I noticed this against NTH Melby, and against the Dons, Melbourne, ive never seen a Collingwood player, so young, hated so much, its quite disturbing, really. I hope he just ignores the dickhead losers in the stands, he seems quite a happy guy, out there.

Bucks used to cop it at Boobiaco Oval. My girls were 7 & 10 at Subi one day, both with their #5 jumpers on, I remember Sharnee crying and asking me why "everybody was booing Bucks".Piesnchess wrote:schuey07 wrote:Agree 100%. I disagree, the two teams were the last 12 mins of the game without a score, without umpires becoming centre stage themselves and wrecking the game.Return of the baldfacts wrote:...Did their best to get Adelaide over the line, but just not up to it.

Best way to drown out the boos is for us to cheer louder for him.Piesnchess wrote:Jack is just a young kid for Chrissakes, and its not just the Umps. umpiring
Did anyone else hear Bucks say that the umpiring was really good considering there were so many tackles laid. Of course they didn't get them all rights but to be fair" the umpiring was good. They weren't noticed in the first half.".he said.
'MADE IT LEGENDARY'
What did anyone think of Stevic call on Howe for HTB in the last minute. He says “In the act of bouncing” but as I see it Howe slips which causes the ball to spill and the tackle came after. I don’t think he was bouncing anyway.
Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy.
