Massive result. Can't be understated how big this win is. This was a genuine 50/50 game in the lead up to it, and we've managed to find ourselves in front by a whisker. Could end up being the difference between playing or missing finals.
Gold Coast, and more widely Queensland weather is renowned for its humidity so the conditions were always going to be difficult for the players to adapt to. It's a difficult place to play football. Carlton and Fremantle both lost up there and Melbourne only narrowly beat them by 2 goals in the early stages of the season, so the difficulty of the opponent shouldn't be lost on us.
Ugly spectacle, particularly in the second half but the last 7 minutes of the final quarter were outstanding. To see them find another gear was something special. We showed the same traits when we came from behind to beat Hawthorn a few weeks ago.
The Daicos boys are gems. Seeing these two in action is a joy to watch. Nick is a serious talent and will be easily our best player once Pendles hangs up the boots.
Our ability to win the close ones this year has been the most enjoyable attribute of this team, which is something I bemoaned in the Buckley years as something we lacked all too often. It's heart attack inducing for the supporters, but seeing them win the close ones more often than not is massive. It bodes well for the team going forward. That's now 3 wins by 5 points or less this year.
Darcy Moore's injury is the sour point of the night. I'm hoping it's only an hyperextension and no ligament damage has occurred.
Onto North Melbourne next week. Need to go in for the kill and build our %.

Yeah I’m not sure how I survived the game, my throat is killing me!Piesnchess wrote:Presti35 wrote:Is it possible to make it to 50 if you support the Pies?
Every week it's a heart attack.
Yep, blood pressure time, its like a trip to the dentist, agony in these type matches. Kudos to Mason Cox, he thrashed Witts, did really well in the ruck, and young Daicos, how good is that kid, really something else, could be a Judd or Dusty, brilliant kid. Is there anyway we can beat Nth next week by at least seven or more goals, stuff this close game shit, enough is enough.
Both Daicos boys will be better than dusty, more vers, and hopefully as good as judd with out the nasty shit!
You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!
That's two games he's played against Gold Coast this year. He had 11 disposals in each. He kicked a goal in the other one but he had 2 more clearances tonight.think positive wrote:Got more touches in Balipiffdog wrote:Jeez - quick to lock the game thread. How about you jump on the Jordy thread with the same haste and wrap that one up…???

I'd say Ruscoe stays in with Moore's injury.Duff Soviet Union wrote:Ruscoe was fine, especially in a first up effort. Not great, but he'll probably keep his place.BazBoy wrote:That was a tough win with some players who didn’t impact
Ruscoe & McCreery were quiet
McCreery's a great pressure player, but he's prone to 5 possession games.
And yes, McCreery needs to start finding the footy. Too many times, he sits and waits for the opposition to gain possession so he can tackle.

is Pendles in the worst spell of his career or what?
Looks like he has decided to play on their best player each week.
And who gets to kick the ball in after they score a point with only a few minutes to go?
Do you think we could have won in the last five weeks (or the last 10 years) without him?
