No it was not ever suggested that he play on Lynch, just support the defenders with the use of his pace when taking the ball out of defence. Anyway let’s move on to next week.

Tardrew I agree has been very good but I disagree with you about our listed players. MaCrae has been very good although a bit inconsistent. And Poulter has been very good although he doesn’t play out of the centre.

^ Poulter has been ok, although he hasn't improved this year, as I had hoped he would. Macrae has been mostly anonymous, as was Bianco - he got elevated because he kicked 5 goals against Essendon but there was no-one competing with him for the ball that day. Sadly, the 2 mids who have been consistently good when they've played in the VFL have been the 2 Browns.

Which probably tells you more about the standard of VFL than it does the suitability of the Browns to the AFL.

Madgen would have offered more than Bianco. This wasn’t a good game to play Bianco. The Richmond bodies are too big for him. Madgen could have thrown his weight around. However, until we have either Roughead or Charlie Dean in the team, we’re undersized in the backline. Kelly would be another option if he wasn’t injured all the time. I would have thought it’s Murphy who’s competing against Madgen as a medium defender. Another to consider is McMahon although at the moment, he’s as skinny as the others and is more suited as a tall forward. It’s blaring obvious our list is deficient in tall defenders and there’s nothing McRae can do about it.

We should have played Cox, he always worries the tigers. Obviously not good enough to compete with the big boys yes, its all in the future. I did expect to lose a close game, so iim a bit disappointed in that regard. Now for the Dogs and Dockers, at their home games, so the draw from hell continues for us.

I am very critical of Lipinski getting the ball and literally ,immediately hanballing it to no one in a better position and a lot of times, over his head to whoever happens to be there.

Like you, I was disappointed by Lipinski's approach on occasion. It is worth noting, though, that he was involved in 9 scoring plays this week (3rd overall, behind Crisp and Nick Daicos who were each involved in 10) after being number one with 12 last week. He's doing some things very well. Obviously, he isn't a gun - if he was, there would have been no way that Footscray would have swapped him for a soft leper like Treloar. He hasn't been too bad, though. So far, he's had two 30-disposal games in 8 rounds - but obviously, he must eliminate the slightly amateurish lapses from his game if he's going to be a first 22 player with extended midfield minutes.

Lipinski won't want to see some of his replay, really shirked from a few contests.
Liked Cameron's game, showed a lot maturity today, could have been monstered, have us presence.
Moore, was simply a dirty day out for him.
Bianco and Cal Brown are the same player. Just not agile enough to warrant playing more games into them.
Sidey is done. Let the Club organise his send off, don't play him into the ground for the rest of the season.
JDG isn't far off it, while he threatened, he wasn't given much space today, was pretty well held.
McReery looks like he is close to getting back into top gear.

I agree with this- I would like to see Sidey have a final opportunity in Black and White at a Collingwood Home game and then hang them up. If he finished now, he is fifth on our all-time games played list- an incredible testimony to his endurance.

If we lose the next two (Dogs, then Freo in Perth) we will be 4-6 with games against Carlton-Hawthorn-Melbourne then GWS.. It might get ugly.

If we finish, say, 14th, we will be in a good Draft position with an early pick, plus another potential first-rounder if we swap picks for the Lions to grab Ashcroft...

If Sidey, Roughead, Pendles and Cox retire at year's end, we will have considerable cash to get a quality forward with...

He's played against Richmond 6 times. He played well against them once. It's all a long time ago. To try to capture just how long ago it is - the last time he kicked a goal against Richmond, Dayne Beams got 2 Brownlow votes for us.

I thought his game was a B+ BUT!! His capacity to turn over the ball and a couple of half hearted attacks on the ball were telling. I think he was involved in the last turnover right at the end ,which really, should have been another Collingwood goal, but ended up down the other end for a Richmond goal. Had he have gone a lot harder, the ball could, at least, have stayed in our forward line. His numbers certainly back up his selection.
