It only makes Grundy's final quarter all the more extraordinary.
Just what I was thinking. Not bad for a guy who apparently doesn't try hard enough

Question, did Draper purposely crash into Grundy when the injury happened?

Drapers aggression set the tone early but the incident was knee on knee and Grundy grimaced before he landed on it. I would think initiating that type of contact is extremely unlikely because another centimetre either way and it could have been Draper with the PCL injury.

Grundy has been very durable over the years. If you participate in enough of these contests, then eventually one them has your name on it. It’s just another example of injury bad luck that seems to follow us from one week to the next.

Twas bad luck indeed, but you know what they say about the Ruckmans PCL; jump higher than the other guy and you'll be sweet

Of course he did, but that's irrelevant.

He was putrid for 3 qtrs.

Their ruckman ragdolled him repeatedly. He needs to be tougher than that.

He’s a $1M a year ruckman. 1 qtr every now and then isn’t good enough.
“Putrid “?? You were watching a different game than me. The sort of crap you’d expect from an Essendope supporter. You certainly sound more like one of them than a Collingwood supporter. Maybe if the midfielders got to Grundys great work first he may well have been our best. He was there when it counted till the end. The filth player was nowhere to be seen. That’s when the whips were cracking.

Yes, his first 3 qtrs were putrid. If you see it a different way, that’s your perspective.

Couldn't watch the game live, and just finished the replay. I was so impressed how we were able to fight back after they seized momentum in the third quarter. I love the style we are playing. I thought in this game we actually were not as good as in several previous games in terms of contested ball pressure and ball movement, but I did think that our defence looked more cohesive and better organised.
Jack Ginnivan is a beauty/
Loved Checkers' game as well - he is so calm, and just exudes leadership and clearly has earned the respect of all around him.
Grundy was huge in the last quarter.
Losing him is massive. Replacing him exactly won't be possible, so creativity will be required.

No
End of story.
We want players who stand up when the games on the line.
The other way of looking at it is
If we had a ruckman who at least halved the contest in the previous 3 quarters would the game had already been in the bag
Because Draper for 75% of the game dominated and was vital in most of there dominance around the ball and ground
For a million a year supporters should be able to expect better than we need dished up for 75% of the game
Objectively Pendles has never earned a million a season but you won’t find a game where he was a complete liability for 75% of the match
On the value for money scale Draper earns about 20% of what Grundy does so who provided there team more value for money ??
Its funny that the stats don't bear out what you are saying. i feel like we are so spoilt in ruck that if Grundy doesn't completely dominate his opponent, we consider it a loss. a lesser ruckman held his own with Grundy for three quarters appears to be the more accurate way to describe it.

Although this kid looks like a decent ruckman and is likely on the rise. so maybe its not fair to say lesser ruckman. We have been spoilt for a long time in the ruck.
i guess we are now going to find out how valuable Grundy is?
