I was tempted to post straight after the disgraceful performance on Saturday, but then thought I should take the time to calm down - unfortunately, time has not calmed me down! I am mighty pissed off!

F4C, I too cried after this game, the first time I have cried over a bloody footy game since the 2002 GF! Why? Because the performance was woeful! This was a game we should've won - instead we blew a 4 and a half goal lead to a side who was beaten just last week by 105 pts (by Melbourne of all teams - a team we have a great history of destroying on Queen's b'day - well, not this year, folks!)

There are no positives to be taken out of this and I resent anybody who says otherwise. I am sick of reading in the paper that Mick and the boys aren't worried, that it's only early days still...well they may not be worried but I bloody well am!

I was going to talk about skill errors, but that would be saying that there were actually skills out there on Saturday, and that would be WRONG! That was the worst display I have seen in quite a while. Simple mistakes were plentiful and these were committed by all - the experienced and the 'novices'.

Thank god I only bought a Captain's membership this year, and so don't have to watch every shocking performance. Saturday night, I think I'll be at the movies using my C'wood membership privileges at Village rather than watching guys run around who just don't care as much as you and I!

And for those (like Eddie) who say we have been spoilt by the last 2 years GF appearances...what was the point? That's all they were - APPEARANCES - I'm still waiting for the ever-elusive VICTORY! And on Saturday's performance, I'll be waiting a mighty long time.

I cannot believe the amount of criticism that MM is getting at the moment. Suddenly this year it appears that Daniher and Thomas have amazingly disocovered how to coach and MM has not. I think the playing group as a whole needs to take responsibility. I would hope the players are putting in some extra sessions ie practising kick out drills. Obree has an extra 50 shots at goal to help ensure he doesnt miss another sitter. Just those little things to ensure that each player is getting the most out of their ability. If each player does that then we can ask for no more.

Re Jason Cloke. The fact is teams have worked him out when he plays as a loose man in defence. To cut it at AFL you have to be able to do more than that. I think MM is trying to help him by playing in a different role to help broaden his learning experience. Hopefully Jason is learning what it takes to be a top class defender.

I think Didak could perhaps go to the half back line and learn more about what the better half forwards do in the AFL. Didak is a pretty well skilled player and his kicking down back would be a bonus and it would take some pressure off him. Didak could also take the kick outs as we need to rapidly improve in this area.

I like Cole as a player and i think he needs to be given more time to develop. Otherwise Cole will be snapped up by another club and everyone will whinge as to why we let him go.

All i want is for all the second year players ie Shackleton to be given a go at Senior Level to see whether they have a future at the club. Better to find out now rather than wait until the end of the year. Even though it is frustrating we need to keep playing the kids and then assess them at year end.

I still think as a team we are slowly improving but we just need to cut out the silly lapses that we have during games that cost us goals and eventually the game.

With a fit match fit Tarrant, Fraser, Buckley, Burns, Presti and Lockyer we will spank the Blues second time around. Let Carlton fans enjoy their moment in the sun as it will be short lived.

Ok our work against Ess and Port was totally undone this week by a lacklustre performance to say the least. As JLC said, we have 2nd year players who need to be run - if they can't cut it now, they never will. Throw them in and see what will happen as we can't get any lower than where we are now.

St Kilda are going to have a field day - we won't lay down - we never will - but judging by a final quarter performance like ours, it is less than ideal to move into a match of this magnitude with. Basic skills have to be honed in. Lonie - should be dropped as total punishment for his botch up that was a mirror image of what he did on Anzac Day. Can one not learn from a mistake?

Now the excuse that isn't an excuse paragraph -

If we had a full side, I feel that we would've won against Carlton, hands down and would've done Port and Essendon. I know it was a coulda, woulda, shoulda but really we have just been found out. TAKE OUT THE AMOUNT OF PLAYERS WE HAVE OUT, OUT OF ANY SIDE AND THEY WOULD NOT BE THE SAME AS THEY WERE, THE YEAR BEFORE WITH NO-ONE OUT.

Now onto another matter -

Part of being a supporter is taking the UPS with the DOWNS. Being a member doesn't mean that you are that only when we're winning. Some of the posts on this board have been really disappointing - being a supporter doesn't mean you have to say you agree with every move MM does, or support every decision at board level. IT DOES MEAN THAT YOU SHOW UP REGARDLESS - YOU SHOW UP TO SUPPORT.

Pull your heads out of your arse and either get off the wagon now and don't come back or experience what being a supporter is about - and that is supporting no matter what.

Sure you will be missed by way of the gate takings but not in any other way. If it means that I won't have to hear and read the crap that I have, it will actually be a blessing.

To everyone else, go put on the 2002 DVD triple pack and remember what this team is actually capable of.

Also, now people may appreciate what it is actually means to WIN.

My dads old footy club would get done by 40 goals, week in week out and they'd all still turn up regardless and barrack and play. Then, in the once in every couple of years they would win and it is something they still talk about now.

To win isn't a right for turning up or for paying your membership - it is a privilege.

We are not a wooden spoon side, no matter what we saw on Saturday but nothing can take away from the fact we are who we are - the greatest club ever to set foot on an oval. Some people may forget that in all the despair.

We are a side that is completely demoralised at the moment. There is zilch self belief. If we as supporters had our spirits crushed at last years GF, surely the players feel that too? How do you come up after 2 years of giving it your BEST, and knowing your best wasnt good enough?

THere are real problems down there and it will be a very long season. However, it doesnt mean all is lost. We MUST continue to play young players and see who is worth keeping at the end of the year. We MUST play for PRIDE and the black and white jumper, and we MUST gain respect back cos at the moment there aint none (and as a supporter Im beginnning to lose respect myself)

I heard Burnsy on the ABC prematch saying we can still make the finals, we can turn things around blah blah, I read Licca in the paper last week saying we are better than everyone thinks we are and we are ready to turn the corner - but I am becoming (already am?) very disillusioned by the talk and the spin coming out of the club at the moment. I know we wont make the finals now, but stuff that if I want to see my beloved club get the wooden spoon. How much are opposition supporters loving this already??

We must pick ourselves up off the floor and do our best, regain respect and put some wins on the board. What else can we do?

PS Its not the end of the world.

Like most of you, I was devastated on Saturday afternoon.

Now that I have had 2 days to get over that horrible loss, we can ask a million questions, sack the coaching staff, the board etc etc etc.

What people have failed to realise is that with one good performnace, we can change our season around. I hat to say this but just ask Danny Frawley.

Whilst the performace was abismal on Saturday, there were some bright spots. I thought Guy Richards took a big step and Dane Swan continues to impress.

If there is ever a chance to beat the Saints, it will be this Saturday. With our backs to wall, there is no better opportunity for this finae and proud club to step up.

Jesus, i would like to see you get out there an do better! If it were up to you we would get rid of the whole bloody side, stop complaining and give some support. If Lonie kicked 5 goals next week you would be praising him, im sick of morons like you bagging the players when the TEAM is down. Supporters SUPPORT their club through thick and thin.

Best thing to do after this game is to make everyone watch the complete game in isolation and then get the players together with the coaching staff and leave their titles outside the door.

Then let them all voice their opinions and not leave until everyone has had their say.

Their is too much division in there for a team and off field staff.

If it doesn't come out into the open it will fester like a wound and get worse until there is no resolution and good players and staff leave or are fired.

Eddie should take control and convene the meeting.

Well Eva Cloke i can't run out there and try because i'm not currently on the collingwood list. Lonie and Cole have serious questions to ask themselves, they are supposed to be out there representing collingwood by actually playing with heart, spirit and use their talent. The fact is that Cole dropped an easy mark which directly led to a point being scored by carlton. lonie then kicked the ball straight to fevola who goaled. Yes I could do better than that.

u cant blame mick malthouse for the way he plays Cloke.... Cloke is one dimensional, and can only play as a loose man in defence... what else can mick do with him... he cant play him as a loose man all day, so he puts him up forward as a big body, but as we know, He doesnt cut it anywhere else on the field, thats why we have to delist him now, or at the end of the year unless he can create another part of his game..

People,people,people,
We CANT and dont and cant blame MM for our disasterous year.He has players to use and if they aint up to scratch, then replace them and bring in some young blood and players who WANT TO WIN.
Ther was an article in the TD today saying that MM is being watched closely due to the positionof the club on the ladder.
The team is playing like a bunch of school kids at present and I am not happy to see it,but MM has only got what he has got.
Remeber a few years ago when we had 1/2 the team on the injury list and Matthews had to put a bunch of cripples onto the park, well this is what Mickhas to do.
Surely there are some deceint NEW players in the VFL that deserve a run and give them the experience in the 'big league'
Give em a go and support MM to the hilt.He is the meat in the sandwich at present and what we need is 25 FIT blokes and enthusiastic blokes to put onto the park.At present we dont have that.

Your post makes far too much sense JLC. A stark contrast to a lot of the other absolute crap in this thread.
