Not surprising, but it does mean staying on top of it through vaccination, no matter how many vaccine conspiracy theories that spawns. I would argue it also means masks should be kept in supply in case a bad variant hits, and people should be aware that is still a possibility. Basic risk management.

Taking all this together, we expect SARS-CoV-2 will continue to cause new epidemics, but they will increasingly be driven by the ability to skirt around the immune system. In this sense, the future may look something like the seasonal flu, where new variants cause waves of cases each year. If this happens, which we expect it will, vaccines may need to be updated regularly similar to the flu vaccines unless we develop broader variant-proof vaccines.

And of course, how much all this matters for public health depends on how sick the virus makes us. That is the hardest prediction to make, because evolution selects for viruses that spread well, and whether that makes disease severity go up or down is mostly a matter of luck. But we do know that immunity reduces disease severity even when it doesn’t fully block infections and spread, and immunity gained from vaccination and prior infections has helped blunt the impact of the Omicron wave in many countries. Updated or improved vaccines and other measures that slow transmission remain our best strategies for handling an uncertain evolutionary future.

My oldest son has tested positive for covid19.

He was feeling unwell last night. He took the RAT test and it came back negative. As did mine.

Then this morning I got up and dropped my yougest son of at school and headed to work, but before I got there my oldest called me and said he had just tested positive. So all three of us are in iso for the next seven days.

Oldest son reckons he doesn't feel too bad apart from the fever. But he said that while I was dropping my youngest off at school, he got up and did a few things and then when he got back on his bed he was shivering and feeling pretty crap. So he reckons he's going to just lay on his bed and take it easy


Now it's a matter of waiting and seeing if the rest of us get it..

Another Daughter of my Sister got Covid Now.

Wife and both daughters tested positive over the last two weeks. Both kids (24 yr old and 12 yr old) bounced back in 3-4 days. Wife has only just returned to work after 2 weeks and is still struggling with lethargy and dizziness. I dodged it completely which has got me stuffed as we didn't bother trying to minimise contact or anything in the house. We're all fully vaxxed and boosted - certainly worked for me.

Interesting that the oral RAT tests didn't pick up the positives on wife and one daughter where the nasal swabs did (we had a mix at home).

My Sister now Tested Positive.

Though Her and her 2 Kids don't to be too Sick.

They Feel Crap but then not been in Bed all day. 2 Kids have Played outside a Bit and Sister doing some work.

They are mostly Ache and Tide so like a Cold/Flu

Thanks Stui and #26. My Sister was mostly in Bed Today but just seems to be Feeling Tired in Achy.

The Youngest Girl who has it seems to have not much Symptoms as she been bit outside Riding Bikes and Roller Skating and the Oldest one starting to come good too

Hopefully her 2 other Kids and Fiance don't get it

ive got the sniffles, as per norm for the onset of shit weather, combined with a hubby who puts the fricken ceiling fan on even though its 16 degrees! i took a test, negative, so off i went out. I dont wear a mask much anymore. always have them on me.

I cannot believe the amount of people i saw at Brimbank shopping centre with masks on but under their nose!! they are not mandatory, if your not going to wear it properly, why wear it! morons

Interesting my Sister and all of her Kids accept 1 had/have Covid. The last 1 has Symptoms but her Boyfriend who lives with them is the only 1 that be Fine so far and he is the only with that been Vaccinated
