Great that only 2 people in Victoria on Ventilators and 25 in ICU

Love to be 0 but sadly that won't happen for the Foreseeable Future

As predicted Dave, hospitalisations continued to decline and deaths have been following. 11 deaths recorded today in Vic but 7 of them happened in February.

We're pretty much in the phase of living with Covid now. Everything is open, masks barely required, case numbers don't matter.

But, there's still other variants out there and there will be more. I expect the 4th shot, 2nd booster to be approved soon, here's hoping that no idiot politicians try to make it mandatory for workers.

Winter should be not fun, with cold, flu and Covid all rampant, but we'll get through it. Better to be free and at risk of catching a Virus than living in a city being rained on with bombs by some nutjob dictator.

Unfortunately, cases are already ramping up, again. In late February, they got down under 20,000 cases per day, Australia-wide. They are presently in the 60,000s. Hopefully the uptake of booster vaccine doses will be sufficient to stop deaths ramping, again. At the moment, deaths in Australia are still comfortably over 20 per day, on average. The highest daily (seven-day rolling) average at any time last year was 15.

It's all relative, isn't it, Dave. Deaths remain way higher than at any time last year - but not as many people are dying as when the inept response to Omicron killed a few thousand people very quickly at the start of 2022. There have been 156 deaths this week. It's a quarter of what the number was at the peak in January - but way higher than in any week last year (the highest in any week in 2021 was 107). The approach of governjments seems to be that we should be relieved that things aren't as appalling as they were earlier this year, rather than concerned that they're massively higher than last year.
