Hate to say this but the game was very ordinary,FAR TOO MANY MISTAKES.I guess that theres alway 2005 coming up.
cant see the guys making the top 8 the way that they played today.
They tried BUT just not good enough.

Today showed that we are the worst team in the AFL. Our guys do not have the desire it takes. After the young No 13 (I can't think of his name) kicked the 2nd of his three it should have been easy to close the game down and hold on. We didn't, in fact if anything our guys had no idea of what to do.
I am more disappointed in todays performance than any game I can remember. Foot skills terrible, desire non-existent, the list goes on.
Dane Swan's performance stood out like a beacon today. The guy gets better every time he plays. Other positives were few and far between but Leon's second half was ok and Woey played better. Can't say anything else was positive.

After kicking the first goal of the last quarter and going to 27 points up, I really thought you were going to bury our heads in the sand and win by 50 points. I'm still gobsmacked as to how we won, you guys seemed to stop for some reason after that goal. One would have thought that goal would have given you the impetus to really put us away.
Buckley's injury can't be blamed as that happened in the 2nd quarter. Tarrant was the big danger and I was expecting him to go on with it. He seemed to run out of puff clearly evidenced by the number of 'pitstops' he made to the bench for a breather.
I would be worried about Leon Davis, when he kicks the magical goals it all looks great but he seems to lack the team discipline when it is most needed eg. centreing kick instead of having a shot from the boundary line.
When French took the bench for the last quarter and we had to use Prendergast in the ruck, I thought it was goodnight time. For some reason, you failed to take advantage of this ??
Very ordinary game to watch regardless of the result, far too many skill errors from both sides. Some of it was no better than a local suburban game !!
Geez that Johnson can play, his disposal at times is a little erratic but he gets his hand on the pill enough that it doesn't matter ..... can we have him too ????
Fair bit of soul searching for the Pies this week, that was a game you had a strong grasp on but let slip. Buckley will be out for another 3-4 weeks so you need some other guys to stand up and be counted.

That was not the best carlton team that has taken the field. Probably one of the weakest we have played against in a long long time. We couldn't bury them and from 3 minutes into the last quarter we played like the 4 points was in the bag. We may as well have walked off the field during that last stanza, it would have made no difference.
The ball handling and disposal was 3rd rate, but I still thought (obviously the players did too) that we'd done enough to win at the beginning of the last quarter.
To switch off like that was very dissapointing to say the least, but one positive is we are in the running for the 1st draft pick in the 2005 draft, we even could snare the first two if today's performance was anything to go by.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.

Worst pies game I have seen in years. The effort was reasonable for 90 percent of the match, but decided to sit on their arses for the last 15 mins. The skills weren't only s*** but they were so bad I was laughing at times.
Very disapointed with this s*** but it's like the 2003 GF, very disapointed but not too upset because we did not deserve to win this game. In fact Carltons goal kicking was the worst I've ever seen, and we were lucky not to get a hiding.
Time for MM to stop spoon feeding and start laying down the law, no excuses, most of these players have had long enough to play half decent footy by now and they need to be accountable. We can only rebuild from here on, so lets bring in the young blokes.
There were a few positives but not many. Walker has cemented his spot. This guy is class and he will be the future of this club. Need to give him as much game time as possible. Richards, Swan, Woey weren't too bad. Leon had a good game and kicked a few goals but frustrates me because he cannot tackle. There were others but I'm struggling to see past the negatives right now.

Very ordinary game of footy by two very ordinary teams it seems. Dane Swan and a few select others can hold their heads up high.
Losing to Carlton doesn't hurt half as bad as knowing that a 27 point loss was squandered.
Time to get back to basics, change the game style and be accountable footballers. Anyone who goes MM is a fool, this one wasn't him, something needs to change in the mindset of the players.
Outside of that, I'm speechless, I can't believe what I saw today

swan and woey i thought were great. Richards was doing ok until the last quarter. He needs to work on his around the ground game - i cannot understand why he did not punch the ball through for a behind in goal that lappin kicked
I thought taz did good for his first game back. How bout some of the free kicks, absolute disgrace. The umpires were not this bad last year.
Next week against a team who are top of the table, and look as if they are going to be undefeated coming into the game against us. No bucks, no burns and possibly no fraser. Whos looking forward to next week?

Got to look forward to next week, whats done is done. Whether it's going to be a long year or not, we have to play football and put the best 22 we can muster onto the field.PiesFan wrote:Next week against a team who are top of the table, and look as if they are going to be undefeated coming into the game against us.
