good effort from most players. looked a lot better than any other game this year.
but the day we <snip> that ****head cole off from the team will be the day our team improves. i cant believe hes still in the seniors. the clanger king. does he have forward thinking? just kicks it in the general direction of our goals, which isnt good enough, it goes down the oppositions throat 80% of the time.

Soooo close. We certainly are on the up..... After bagging O'B for the past 5 weeks he has proven me wrong, and I'm pleased to say it. If it wasn't for the fact that we had no players left on the bench, we would have won the game by at least five goals. Bring on Carlton...

Well done boys! We played with heart and tried hard all day.We may have a new list of injuries, but we should go into next weeks game against carlton fairly confident especially if bucks and tazza are back.Just believe in yourself and effort goes a long way.GO PIES.

I was very proud of the boys today. At certain stages of the game, we looked gone, but the boys simply did not lie down. Quite simply, it was the lack of fit players that cost us the game. Port can hang their heads in shame over that victory, because in the end, we did not have a fit player on the bench. Not to mention missing our best midfielder, forward and number one ruckman.

Well our finals chances are official over. Too many players not willing to tackle. Compare Tredrea to Rocca, its a big difference. Woey and co didn't go hard enough. Cole did well. Got thrashed in the clearances again. Put it this way, Richmond and Geelong are travelling better than us at the moment.

I didn't catch the game but their's plenty of conflicting reports. I don't think our final hopes are over, need to get a roll on in the next couple of weeks though or else they are.

Gutsy effort fomr our boys! With so many key players out, and no men left on the bench. We played awesome! the hardness is back and our kids keep impressing! Everyone was writing us off. saying that we need more than a miracle if we are to even get within 10 goals.. well we sure proved them wrong didnt we?! If that performance is a sign of things to come, then bring on the rest of the season!

Well, Kinnear did a great job bringing Port back into game in 2nd quarter with his ineptitude at a boundary line contest. Couldn't believe that cheeky prick burgone backed himself to outrun woewoedin for a goal in the 3rd quarter.
Plaudits to the boys for making a contest with the whole bench out of action. Had Benny Johnson played the whole game we would have won.
Homo Treadrea did a great job knocking out 2 players of ours. Licca did a great job in breaking Carrs jaw getting his kick away. Filthy parasite got his right whack. Pencil in 2 week suspension for him because he plays for Collingwood.
So considering we had these players out or injured:
Buckley, Tarrant, Lockyer, Fraser, Burns, Johnson, Cam Cloke etc...
Wasn't a bad effort.

Won't mention how crap umpiring was again. It's par for the course for our interstate trips isn't it?

Let's make that charge for 8th spot now eh?

If you forget everything except the last 3 minutes... eg umpiring, missed shots at goal, injuries etc.... scores were level but

we lost because;

Cole missed a target more or less alone on the wing and it went out of bounds.
Clement kicking after a point missed O'Bree on his own and it went out of bounds.
Schofield ran unobstructed through the centre after a bounce and delivered.

Those three events cost us the game. A little more polish and we would have been home. Fair dinkum though, Port are petrified of us.
Get back on top.

Only 2 of our top 10 players saw out the whoole game today, so good effort.
O'Bree, if he could hit a target he would be back. That 50%+ of his possies went to port nulifies his 38 game haul.
Lets pray we don't win too many more now to ensure we get high picks. It will be hard on us, the supporters, but we have to use the system to enable us to be competative in 2005.

Post match Port vs Pies

Post by melissa »

Does anyone know why Fraser didnt play? I missed the start of the game. Well, we played better than on Anzac Day and McGough, O'Bree, Didak and Licuria were great, Cam Cloke was promising and dare I say it, even King was good, and I haven't been impressed by him so far, until now that is. With Bucks and Taz back, and possibly Tarks in a couple of weeks, we could make the eight but only just. Carlton next week. Let's get 'em for poaching Heath Scotland. Go Pies, and Mick, get bloody Woey on a bus back to Williamstown right quick! He just hasn't been putting in!
Congrats Bucks, on a great return! Bring on the Crows!

Was didak great? I missed the game but i checked the stats and he only had 7 posessions, 2 marks and kicked 2.2

Although stats can be misleading...

Oh okay, thanks for that. Hope he's feeling better. It's going around i think. The virus i mean. Every man and his dog's had it. Hope half of Carlton get it (not cos i think we can't beat them but just cos i hate Carlton!) and Brisbane can come down with diarrhoea too. Oh, that's right, Aker's already got the verbal mutation. Go Pies.
Congrats Bucks, on a great return! Bring on the Crows!
