^ yeah agree. The “team” takes into account specialist positions. There are mids outside the team that will still rank higher in a national draft.
That said, some of Dibbs clearance work on top of tackling has surprised me this year. I think he could be much more than what some think.

Still. Happy for an outside 40 pick.

i'm sure it is somewhere here, but who is Dibb and why can we get him? I assume similar to Quaynor and Atu B?

I agree he is the type you want to keep.

He also has a heap of currency IF he wants to leave - this is the sort of player that could help you land a Ben king
I do wonder if a player like Ben king (and others of his ilk) consider Collingwood as a destination club in our current circumstances. Other clubs may be more attractive for such young players seeking the best environment for winning a flag. Also if Ben king leaves, he may want to play with his twin. I honestly don’t know if available players want to come to Collingwood like they did in the past☹️
Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine!

Just quoting from another thread - this should answer your question:

Small, speedy type. Has played a bit of VFL. We have some preferential access to him in the draft (although, as I write, I don't recall precisely how that works in his case - someone else will post it, I'm sure).

Here's a brief article about him and Second Son of Marvel arriving in February: https://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/8 ... heir-paces
Thanks for that. We know Daicos will attract an early bid, hopefully no bids for dib, as we probably won't have any points for him.
Dib is an N G A prospect and tied to Collingwood. Under new rules, as long as he is not called out in the first 20 picks, we can secure him under the same father / son 20 % points discount. If we really want him, the club will create the draft points outcome to make it happen. Despite what some people are assuming, he is nowhere near amongst the best twenty U19 kids in the country, so there is little chance of him going top 20. He’s a reasonable talent and has played both as a small defender and small pressure forward on different occasions.

Why is Ben King available? Gold Coast traded Peter Wright away last year to make room for Ben King. I'd be amazed that Gold Coast would accept anything less than a first round pick for him.

No, your right. Much of the unrest at Collingwood right now has been called for by supporters. That sort of change does take a while and in the interim we just have to do our best.

On Ben King, he is contracted this year on good money and would like to get to the Saints but understands this could be difficult so it will come down to how much he wants back in Victoria- which is a bit.

Again, said this a bit. He’s contracted this year on big dollars but the word out of Suns is that he is wanting to come home.

As for his value, Suns want players more than picks. A Maynard plus a sweetener could get it done OR a high pick in FOR Maynard could also be an option.

It will take giving up something very good to get him. I thing north might be in the box seat.

To Brayden Maynard:

Oh, won't you stay
Just a little bit longer
Please, please,please say you will
Keep our team a little bit stronger

Champions stay just a little bit longer
We want to play just a little bit longer
Now the new coach don't mind
And even Bux won't mind
If you take a little time
And leave the past behind.

Oh, won;t you stay,
Just a little bit longer.

Suns ballsed it up by not picking both Kings. Ok Lukokies (whatever) is ok but he will be target for the Adelaide clubs. If Dees win flag they will something like pick 20 after Daicos and Darcy are claimed. Pick 20 and Weideman might get it done for Maynard.

I hope the club seriously consider what we can get for him. He’s one guy we CAN let go who holds currency.

Say we are able to get into the top 10-15 of the draft and we lose Maynard and maybe a second round pick in a future draft.

I’d do that in a heartbeat.

It quickens our rebuild, gives us a shot at another young talent in this draft to add to Daicos.

Yes, we lose Maynard who I love for his passion and hardness. But I’ve heard he’s a ticking time bomb and realistically, we can replace him in the backline. He’s a HBF ffs…. Plenty of those around!!

Noble. Roughead. IQ
Howe. Moore. Crisp.

Is Gaining a top 10-15 pick more important at this point in time than Maynard? I say yes.
Beware the swooping Magpie.

Not if we traded it for a young player from another club before the draft.
