So glad the tide turned. We didn’t have the polish first half and as per usual we played the opposition back into form. Good ol Collingwood forever. However we stuck to our game plan, our heads didn’t drop! The turning point was for me Jon noble playing on instantly after a fumble, hitting a target running forward, handballs going through the centre steaming forward and the perfect kick to Cameron in the goal square!! We know how to play the game.
no second chances

The only thing I care about is hope for the future. Winds don’t bother me. The ball movement was premiership standard in the last qtr, probably last half. Better than anything Buckley rolled out in the last 20 matches.
Henry showed a little bit will still take time, ruscoe down back was good. Bianco and IQ did some nice things.
Perhaps shows what a positive game plan can do for the development of young players…

The match day thread is for unfiltered BS knee jerk reactions. The time for level headed comment comes after.

Wasn't it just unbelievable Piesnchess!! Nothing like a last quarter comeback and against the Tigers no less!!! Woo hoo!!!Piesnchess wrote:BANGER HARVEY, U BLOODY LEGEND. COME ON DOWN !!!! DID WE WIN, WE SHIT IT IN !!!!!! Suck eggs Tigers, the dream is over.!!!!!
Very happy for Banger Harvey. He's a good man too, just like his predecessor, and deserves to feel the warmth that comes with a great win.
Brayden Maynard is worth his weight in gold - such a fierce, courageous, uncompromising defender. He goes off with a shoulder issue, Jack Reiwoldt kicks his 700th goal. Bruzzy comes back on, no more goals for Riewoldt.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that he must be the next captain - although wait, it's not up to me is it!!Mr Miyagi wrote:Geez we’re a different team with Tay Tay in the middle. Gotta keep him fit and on the park.
As the players left the ground, there was Tay, last man off, hugging all the track-suited young ones who didn't get a game in the seniors. Therein is our leader for the future.
Also, the Fox Footy commentators, for what they're worth (better than those on 7anyway) called Tay the "most passionate of Pies players".

So we should appoint 4 co-coaches next year.MAY-Z wrote:nah he is just a fourth quarter specialist based on the last 2 weeksHaff wrote:So, does that mean Harvey can coach? Imagine if we played that way the entire game!
some great signs today, even though the first 3 quarters weren't great it was more a final ball rather than complete catastrophe.
Buckley Q1 coach, Harvey Q4 coach...
Choco and Clarko for Q2 and Q3?
Yep, Tay and Moore easily. Watching Tay around the club when injured, he’s always giving 100% when he could easily focus on his rehab and leave the leader stuff to others. Tay’s gutsy efforts in the middle made a huge difference todayPyreneesPie wrote:There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that he must be the next captain - although wait, it's not up to me is it!!Mr Miyagi wrote:Geez we’re a different team with Tay Tay in the middle. True P P, was a magnificent win, warmed my heart right up, we stuck it right up em, arrogant tossers they are. ! How good are these kids too, Henry, Murphy, Bianco, etc, great kids, the future looks great under our next coach, i kinda hope we keep Banger on as an Assist coach, he obviously does know a heck of a lot bout footy, he put his stamp on todays match. Im excited.

If we play this style of attacking footy and win far more than we lose for the rest of the season, could appointing Harvey as the permanent coach be a viable option? Would frequent wins from now on garner support for Harvey on Nick’s? I realise it’s the club’s decision but wondering all the same.Haff wrote:The only thing I care about is hope for the future. Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine!
Great win by Collingwood that was sparked by a significant change in tactic to go through the center when coming out of the defense and great positive running by the midfield. Credit to Banger Harvey for having the team play a more offensive game style, although it seems to take a while in each match for it to bear fruit. Maybe the opposition have to tire and become slower at covering the center corridor for this tactic to succeed?
Of course it helps when Pendlebury and Adams play well & Grundy and Cameron are dominating the opposition ruck of Chole and Picket. Not every week has such a makeshift rucking combination.
Great defense turning defense into attack by the backs with Maynard, Crisp, Quaynor and Mayne doing a terrific job.
Poor Jack Magden... every week he gives 100% effort and he has improved each season that he's been at the club, but he isn't a great decision maker and each game he seems to suffer from a couple of "clangers" that cost Collingwood goals every week. I guess he remains in the team till there's a better option available.
Worrying to see Will Kelly only last half a game at the highest level. He seems very fragile with a long history of injuries. Hopefully another pre-season will see him develop a stronger body capable of withstanding the rigors of AFL as he seems to have a lot of potential as a mobile tall.
All set for a great game that is now a must win vs Carlscum next week. Go Pies!!
