My 2 elder brothers and a 12 y.o. me listened to the game in the family FJ.
At 3 quarter time, my brothers were predicting a Melbourne win.
At the final siren, guess who was grinning from ear to ear.
Mate, i was too little back then, but my older bro and Dad went to that 1958 GF, bro was 12, and after final siren, heralding the biggest upset in League history, bro ran onto the G, - you could do that back then - with thousands of crazy Pies fans, an slapped Thorold Merrett on the back. !
Jack Dyer saw Merrett at 15 yrs old, -he wanted the Tigers to recruit him- told Richmond recruiters, " Get onto this kid Merrett, he can stab kick a ball up a chooks arse from forty yards "!

Yep. If you’re a potential coach thinking of accepting the job, it will stand for plenty.Pebbles Rocks wrote:Our record against the top 5 teams this year is pretty good.doriswilgus wrote:People, have been saying all year that this is the worst Collingwood side they’ve seen, but I don’t see it myself.I remember the Shaw years where we would get absolutely thumped on a regular basis. This hasn’t happened to this side.In fact our biggest losing margin is only 30 points, and we have a pretty decent record against top 8 sides if you check her results. So yes,the team has a lot of work to do,and a lot of improvement to make with the list, but it’s far from the worst ever.
Won by 17 v Melbourne
Lost by 1 v Port Adelaide
Lost by 1 v Brisbane
Lost by 10 v Geelong
Lost by 16 v Bulldogs
If we won the Port and Lions game Bucks would still be there...

Paradoxical circumstances.
I don’t know what to think.
I think it kind of proves, the Deeeees are not as good as they think they are, for one thing. Premierships are not won in June.

I watched the game with my son and we had genuine conversations about bucks, collingwood and the game per say.
My father supported Collingwood, I have supported the black and white for 52 years, and despite the terrible last year for the club, I know what today meant to my son. Thank you Nathan and it was plain for all to see what you meant to your players.

Honestly??? Geelong were going at about 25% effort against us and were never in any danger of losing that game. teams generally dont fire up when they are playing the crap sides. not surprising they were closer than expected.Pies2016 wrote:Yep. on the other-hand, I though JDG didn't show much emotion.PyreneesPie wrote:Wasn’t it just. The prolonged hug between Bucks and Maynard especially brought the tears on for me. Bruzzy did his utmost today.RickyMay wrote:Thank you Nathan and it was plain for all to see what you meant to your players.

Like the comments from a player who said he was happy they've made the call so they can move on and enjoy their footy again? Played like a team who was finally free today.MickMCG34 wrote:Today’s performance (surely can’t be explained by emotion only) and players’ comments about NB and recent form are making the Club look stupid.
Like, what have they done and why?
Looks outwardly like the football world, except obviously the board and football manager, don’t get it.

Takeouts from today’s game:
1} Nathan Buckley is a champion Collingwood person and a champion person fullstop.
2} the players love him and the bounce back to premiership contender will be fast if put in the right hands.
3} BUcks will be sought after as a coach by other clubs in future. No question.
