Why? Because we are presently lacking enough top talented players to benefit from fast ball movement when the opposition ups their pressure (as the top teams will always do).

In retrospect (always the more clear view ), the worst errors were those made at the selection table on Thursday ie selecting both Brown brothers and JT in the same team and not including another tall forward to keep Alir occupied.
No our game plan lost us the game. We don’t have blowout losses, but you don’t win games kicking such a low score week in, week out. The reason we lost was in the coaches box and the lack of ideas when things don’t go according to our one dimensional script. Nothing has changed since 2014, we still get scored on the counter attack, to use a soccer term. We clog it in our forward line it stays there for some time and then the opposition get the ball out with fast movement on the counter attack and score. It happens every time. So over watching the same crap that I first noticed seven years ago.
Yeah, I grant that Port players cleared it too easily out of our forward line in the last quarter. That could be due to a lack of sharking talent in the forward line and also having JT and the Brown brothers simply clogging it up down there, when more astute players would hover around the 50m arc to block the run out.
It’s not the players, it’s happened even with better lists. It’s the game plan. It’s the way we set the team up outside the 50 that lets this happen. We have had this issue since 2014, it’s never been a playing personnel problem. I can’t for the life of me understand how a coaching team on well over a couple of million can’t see this.

Throw in some beers and it’s top 4.

Yes great effort by the team

My question today is and from 2019 is why do we continue to play this slow ultra defensive gamestyle.

And then
Why the coach is allowed to continue with a style that is clearly not good enough at all to compete and win games

i just can't beleive it.

Honestly. How much more evidence do you need this gamestyle is

outated
cumbesome
Easly beaten
taxing on the players
allows for no natural ability to come through

It just creates confusion

Stop it now. Time for change

I’ve said it til I’m blue in the face, we need Cox to take the defenders!
We are in full agreement TP!
Coxy in and the only mids allowed to go in are those capable of sharking a spilt mark or kicking goals with a snap eg Pendles, Daics. We already have McCreery in there who tackles well and can kick an opportune goal as well. Otherwise, stay the hell out of there and man up so the opposition doesn't
get to clear it down the ground.
We actually set up well today for kick outs from our points kicked. It was just exits from our forward line in the last quarter from congested play in the forward line that we couldn't stop.

We should of won this game... our list strategy must be to pick players who can kick, and a KPP fwd.

Poulter is coming along nicely, but do we need a decent fwd target!!!! Mid season and next free agency are huge periods or the club.

Frustrating to lose, but we played better than we have for weeks, but our belief/confidence is really low and it shows in our play/skills.

I can’t believe you can’t see it. Even with the players, this game style is outdated and no longer fit for today’s football.

^ That is hilarious. Yeah, that sure does look like Bux' game plan! I think that if the opposition didn't try to win possession of the ball, that is exactly how we would play!
