Win for the Pies in wet & blustery conditions. Hard going in the last.
Pies 2.10.22 defeated Blues 0.4.4

Next game (Round 7) Collingwood vs Southern Saints on Saturday 17th @ 10.00am. Venue Trevor Barker Oval.

Round 8 will be against the Bombers on Anzac Day @ 11.00am at The Hangar.

At this stage not confirmed which AFLW listed players will play in the VFLW, now that AFLW season is over for the Pies. The commentary team today did mention that Carlton would be playing top line players Darcy Vescio and Georgia Prespakis in the VFLW so assume that the Pies will do the same.

Collingwood 6.5.41 defeated Southern Saints 4.2.26. Bella Smith 3 goals.

Scores close for much of the match but 2 goals in the last qtr to Bella Smith sealed the win.

Collingwood will be 2nd on the ladder unless Carlton has a win against Port Melbourne tomorrow - Port on 20 points but have a big % and would be expected to beat Carlton who are currently 7th.

Next week Pies will play Port @ Port Melbourne. This game will be a good test for the girls coming towards the back end of the season.

All teams have submitted their list changes for phase 2 of the season with quite a few AFLW players on the lists.

Several of the Pies AFLW players have already played in the VFLW - Shevlin, Cann, Purcell, Velardo, Newman, Lin, Smith, Moloney & Alexander.

Other additions:

"The AFLW experience added to Collingwood’s VFLW side is headlined by highlight-machine Chloe Molloy and prospective number one pick Charlie Rowbottom.

The talent being added to the ladder leaders doesn’t end there, with 2021 All-Australian defender Ruby Schliecher coming down to play in the state league side as well.

The Pies’ midfield will be bolstered by the inclusions of tough nuts Sophie Casey, Mikala Cann and Ebony O’Dea.

Lauren Butler was having a breakout season for Collingwood in the AFLW before being sidelined with a hamstring, so will be looking to return to form in the VFLW."

Round 10 match report:

https://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/9 ... undefeated

"Saturday's win marks the Pies’ tenth-consecutive victory this season and now sees them sit two games clear on top of the ladder.

McMillan said the side’s success in the season so far has ultimately come down to the group’s determination and collective mindset.

“They’re a pretty amazing group to be honest and I feel pretty lucky to be coaching them and to be involved.”

“They’re a hard-working group striving to get better each week and within that, we’ve got a good collective of individuals who want to strive to be successful. So combining that altogether, everyone is just willing to do their role for the team.”

With just four games left in the home and away season, McMillan said the Pies are just focused on improving and playing some really good football before they embark on a finals campaign."

And the Pies undefeated run continues.

Collingwood 8.4.52 def Port 1.4.10.

Goal Kickers: I. Barnett 4, M. Zander 2, H. Bowey, C. Bunker
Best Players: K. Lee, M. Cann, I. Barnett, H. Bowey, J. Lambert, C. Bunke

A tight 1st quarter, a bit scrappy. Pies kept Port scoreless in the 1st half and kicked away in the 3rd quarter.

Replay of the game can be viewed on VFL YouTube channel, link above. Commentary by the WARF radio team is old school and quite entertaining (sound quality may be a bit dodgy in parts).
