What a contrast those press conferences were last night. Fagan, obviously loved by his players and the media because he is a normal loving human being. Buckley cold, aloof and unloved by all concerned. The hostility in the air was palpable. Buckley's ridiculous comments about Grundy's irrelevance had the media all but laughing at the insanity of it all.

Sack him now Collingwood.

How frustrating, I was thinking of throwing the coffee table through the window but ended up throwing the cushion at the wall.

In the third quarter Brisbane repelled up to 10 times in a row at their half back. I was thinking why not look for a target? Duh

With under a minute to go, I thought the boys must hang on to the pill, no they got repelled again and the rest is history.

Something wrong with the (non)brains trust at Collingwood.

You cant blame the Coach for every damn thing, these are highly paid professional footballers, who should KNOW how to run a game out, they should by now, know how to make shit happen, and grind out a win. Some of our guys just played dumb in that game, they should know better. Granted its time to bite the bullet, and drop a few, WHE, Thomas, Magden, bring in 3 kids, freshen the team up a bit, like Swans have, nothing like youthful enthusiasm. We should, one hopes, be in a foul mood against the GWS, just re load and come out firing, its all we can do now, this game is past, now look ahead.
Why do you keep defending this spud of all spud coaches? Is it because you were so passionate about getting him as coach in the first place and now in your heart of hearts know that it was the wrong thing to do? We should have stuck with Malthouse. When will you admit the game is up for Buckley?

That whole thing is an embarrassment for our sport. In the NFL that plays by the 10th of a second on the clock every single player can see EXACTLY how many seconds are left in a game. Why does the AFL persist in keeping players and fans guessing as to how much time is left? We should have a giant countdown clock and everyone knows the score.

Yep.
I don't think he has the mental fortitude to cope with the game these days.
I get the feeling he doesn't care as much as he did in the past.
Put pressure on Sidney and his game crumbles.
Still pissed off with him leaving the bubble last year.
I am not a political correct man.
On that coin you play no matter what.... short of death.
This, he lost me with that decision, especially after missing 4 for having his pants down. I also thought he was crap last night, but I thought it was because I am still pissed at him!

Far too many dropped marks last night, u til we get a decentforward we are in the shit, and bombing to no one means it’s shocking we only lost by a dodgey point. Dumb play week after week, why can we seeit andthe coaching team, let alone the players, can’t ? It’s dogs balls territory, work it in **** sake, and maybe do some target practice.

Thank god for defence.

It’s damn atrocious, even for that shit rag Murdoch mouthpiece. I hope people understand why I’m so vocal about media and how they **** us over every chance they get.

Print that out and pin it to every player locker. Fire them up, get them angry.

I said the exact same thing to my friend. Imagine marking and playing my on and the siren going. Like Rohan last week. It’s pathetic. The only sport in the world with a genuine countdown clock where the players doesn’t know how long there is left. Even in Rugby and soccer the clock keeps going until a fi al play is stopped or the ref holds his whistle until the final dead ball. But AFL? No, apparently the drama is what we want, not professional athletes plying their trade in a final minute situation. No, let them ‘guess’ what they should do. Embarrassing.

What I’m worried about is they wouldn’t care, as long as they meet what ever criteria is on their form sheet. I’d kill for some passion. I don’t want friendly post game chats after a loss, I want a Geefrickenlong style **** you death stare

Obviously we are all feeling disappointed by the result, but had we won by a point, most here would be celebrating that we have a team good enough to beat one of the very top teams in the comp.

The fact is we are at present, a good team, but not a top 4 team. There is still scope for significant improvement from our current list, meaning we can still play finals this year.

Positives:

1. Cox is remaining more involved throughout games.

2. Thomas was quite good and showed fierce tackling and was a reason we led by 4 goals in the 2nd quarter.

3. Sier played another very good game. He is a major in-pack extractor for us, and his booming goal should give him confidence to take the game on even more.

4. Quaynor is a beauty.

5. Roughead is playing his best footy for us.

6. Howe has now fully recovered from his injuries and showing no sign of impairment.

7. Grundy is clearly returning to his 2019 form - obviously made easier by the immature opponents he had from the Lions.

8. Noble continues to be a very good sweeping defender, with great disposal and decision-making skills.

9. Pendles is still a great midfielder

10. Daicos is a Daicos.

Negatives:

1. De Goey needs to do more. It may be that he should be used as a permanent forward.

2. WHE does not do enough to earn his massive salary. Despite his skill, he needs to be dropped.

3. Callum Brown has failed to improve over the past 3 years. Anyone with poor kicking skills should not be picked at AFL level.

4. Overall, our midfield group failed to take full advantage of Grundy's (expected) dominance in hitouts.

5. Sidey's effectiveness was far less than normal. However, he should bounce back.

Overall:

To my mind, the positives far outweighed the negatives. It's hard to see it like that when we lost a game we should have won, but in terms of the big picture, I actually see us as improving on last year, rather than going backwards as many here seem to think.

^^ Good post Rudeboy. We lost by a kick after the siren and matched it with last year’s prelim team (admittedly they had a good run in Brisbane in 2020!).

WHE dropped a couple of sitters he’d normally always mark, could have been a couple of goals there.

Whilst the discussion hinges on last night I thought the “Ruck work of Brody was irrelevant to the game” strange

Collingwood history will show that Buckley will go down as one of the most unsuccessful in his 10 consecutive years as coach.
