Too many plodders on the list
Why isn't the team coached to drive the ball deep into our forward line when a player (Mihocek) marks on the wing with 2.22 left on the clock.
Noble trailed Bailey by 20 metres when the Lion took the mark in the last seconds- sagging off for an easy kick- not good enough.
We have so many young lads with speed and skill on the list whose progress is stifled by Thomas, Noble, Madgen, ...
Please bring Murphy, McCreery and Kelly in this week.
I would invite Sir Scott Burns to be interim coach for the remainder of 2021.
If we lose to GWS and WCE in the next two weeks (both likely), Bucks needs to fall on his sword...
Very, very unhappy old Magpie tonight

What an embarrassing situation this club has found itself in. Laughing stock of the league pre-season. Eddie’s love child continues to front the media spinning shit. Who the f..ck gets 10 years at Collingwood and doesn’t win a Premiership? Eddie may have done some great things but he’s destroyed that 2010 team because of his ego and continued backing an unproven coach. Buckley has to go. Simply, and unfortunately, he’s not up to it.

I'm just trying to be nice about it. I'm just saying its easier for some people to hide behind the mask of acting like they dont care. That's easier then showing they do care and open themself up for being bagged.PyreneesPie wrote:Oh please Presti!!!!! That's hardly an adequate excuse. But then again, this is an all Collingwood board. Should be safe in here.

A club that trades players for reasons other than football, put their list at risk, at least in the short term. The 2 players not to be mentioned were missed. The coaching is deplorable. When you get 25 points up you must be ruthless and attack. The Lions were on the canvas with 4 scoring shots on nearly 40 minutes of football. They were nearly broken. Collingwood gave them a sniff by being defensive. The rest is history. There is nothing to take out of this game. Most teams In the comp would have beat the Lions tonight.

I can understand sticking with the usual selections in the first few games of the season, just to make absolutely sure that they are given a fair crack at holding their spots.warburton lad wrote:

However, I think you're absolutely right WL. I think losing this game in the fashion we did is a turning point- time to bring in some new blood starting next week. I do feel for the players who will be dropped because of a miniscule lack of talent - eg Callum Brown could've sealed the game for us had he goaled. He will be gutted, but we need to see someone come through, who can kick clutch goals like that. WHE has been given a multitude of chances to get back to his 2018 form. Magden is just a cut below the other defenders. JT is just hanging in there.
Time for change.

What has happened to Callum Brown?
I thought two years ago he was on the verge of a promising career but has gone backwards terribly since then.
He seems to have caught the disease of handballing to someone else when they're in a worse position. It shows a footballer with no confidence to take the game on.
It's a disease that runs through a big part of our team. "Here, you have the ball, no you have it, no you have it, I don't want to make a mistake."

Blame this squarely on Eddie. His ego. To persist for a DECADE with an unproven coach who inherited a side that smashed everyone in 2011 only to lose to one team and the best percentage in the history of the game. Disgraceful. Bring Hodge or Clarkson to the club. Buckley is finished.

To lose on the last kick of the night was devastating, but we played pretty well most of the game.
Our biggest problem is that we have a couple of players who simply do not do near enough, in WHE and Callum Brown, the latter being not skilled enough to play at this level.
Unfortunately, given Grundy had virtually no opponent in the ruck, the fact we still couldn't win was not good.
I thought Sier was terrific and Thomas' tackling was ferocious. Overall, we needed a bit more from De Goey. We could/should have won the game, so it's not all doom and gloom. Remember, the Lions are considered a top 4 team. We are a good side, but we need to improve to beat the top sides.
