I will scream if anyone still says there is not a problem with our side this year. Ever since West Cost smacked us in the Wizard Cup, our season has just not started! Some of the problems I can see at the moment are as follows:
1. The delivery into the forward line is either too short or over the forwards head.
2. Having said that, we have kicked under 10 goals in two games out of four so far. Not enough from the forwards.
3. Our decision making and movement of the ball is just too slow. Have a look at how quickly Freo moved the ball from one end of the ground to the other.
4. Our forwards seem to start their leads from about 30m out rather than the square. It's giving defences every chance of getting back to spoil or mark.
5. Some players are not doing any where near enough at the moment. O'Bree - 10 touches. Williams - 8 Touches. Cloke - 3 Touches. These are just some examples of what has been happening over the last 4 weeks.
6. What has happened to the best tackling side in the comp. Total Freo had 42 Tackles to our 36.
Yes we can still turn the season around but something is going to have to change dramatically and soon. What has happened this year, I am not sure. Have some other teams improved that 5% this year, where we have not? Did we play above ourselves the last two years?

Williams needs to win more of the contested ball.

I thought Josh was good he tried hard all day.
Ben Johnson with 29 touches, Mullins had a good debut with a few.
Part from that, what other positives were there?

Why oh why is Cloke up forward again? MM was rumoured to say Cloke played better in the 2002 GF then he did in last years GF.....well maybe because he cant play up forward!

If the coaching staff insist of playing him up there, might as well drop him.

Geez i'm sick to death of people questioning why Cloke gets played in the forward line. The reason being is compared to our other key defenders in Presti, Wakes and Clement he is bloody hopeless at the moment. He has lost pace, agility and endurence since last year, and the first two he lacked anyway, but could get away with because of his good reading of the play. He is far too one dimentional to be in the team at the moment. He's not tall enough to play on tall key forwards, not quick enough to play on quick forwards. And unfortuately for him, loose man in the backline is not actually a posistion. He should be dropped next week as nobody, and I mean nobody could be as useless to us in terms of the team unit as him.

I think we have been very unlucky at the start this year as in the 4 games we have played we have had Tarrant miss 2, Buckley 1 and Rocca 1. Now that's our 3 best and most important players in the team so I think we shouldn't expect too much in the next couple of weeks as Tarrant and Buckley will be out, so hopefully some of the new boys can step up. It wouldn't be so bad if Davidson wasn't out for the year as he would have been good support for Rocca so I think we could have one of those unfortunate years injury wise but hopefully it won't and that Taz and Bucks can get back ASAP
FOR F**K SAKE MOVE THE BALL ON QUICKLY!!!

That's no reason to play him in the forward line is it? If you think he is hopeless down back, then fine. But that doesnt change the fact that he is even worse up forward?

Wheres he gonna play next, on ball?

Next two weeks is the key to 2004

Round 5 - Essendon
Round 6 - PAP Smears in Morontown

We will start underdogs in both of those and if we go 1-5, no coming back from there

Have to pinch at least one of the next two to remain in touch

Perhaps to quote an ex-prime minister:
"this is the season we had to have".

I get the feeling that climbing the mountain for the 3rd year in a row (after coming up empty in the last 2 assualts) is proving a much harder ask than a lot of players are willing to commit to.

Having said that, what I find most dissappointing is that the other 3 prelim teams from last year (Drug Cheats, Swans and Port) are all seemingly back on track towards another finals tilt, with more or less that same cattle on the park.

Too many passengers! Some of the players just aren't good enough and we are not getting enough out of our senior players. Presti and Rocca are struggling, Fraser gets beaten in the ruck to often and we are not getting enough clearances. The forward line isn't functioning due to poor foot skills to key players.

To say the club has a few problems is an understatment, I believe MM has to take a lot of the blame, getting rid of players and we all know how many and who has gone was a mistake, we had a few tough players with experience who maybe not always but at times could turn games our way. We saw Rupert do it and Molloy, so Scotland wanted to go they shouldnt have let him no way we lose players like these and yet we still have hacks on our list like Kinnear and there are quite a few, it pisses me off, I think some players have lost respect for MM, the way he has lost it and critized them, unfortunetly mostly there just kids, we need men.

Lonie: needs to be dropped
O'bree: needs to be dropped
Shaw: needs to be dropped
Cloke:needs to be taught to play different game
Williams:needs to be sacked
Licuria:needs to became our No.1 tagger again
Didak: needs a huge kick up the backside & reminded that we kept him for N.Stevens(it even hurts to write it)

The first 3 players need to be not only dropped for 1 week but until they can show that they are well above playing in the V.F.L (at least2/3 B.O.G's)

This has to be the LONGEST pre season in the history of the AFL. However MM came out with the bleeding obvious and that is their is room for improvement. Thank f*** for that.

This may not be the most talented team going around when you compare it to the Kangaroos and Melbourne on paper it isnt that much different. But at least with those teams for most of the season they put their bodies on the line and have a crack week in and week out because their survival depends on it. Maybe our players have been spoilt by the facilities and the supporters always staying loyal. Maybe when their careers are on the line we may see a bit more effort.

We over possess the ball instead of being a bit more direct and getting the ball quicker into the forward line. The current players are not skillful enough to execute the game plan.

Jason Cloke i cannot understand why you are in the team ? He should be dropped back to Willy to regain some form. He is definately not a forward unless he is used as a decoy.

Licuria has to be playing with an injury as he is only a shadow of the player he used to be.

Obree. Does a player ever get more meaningless possessions than Obree ? I used to be a fan of Obrees but have lost full confidence in him.

Didak has had a very disappointing season. The club showed a huge amount of faith by knocking back the Stevens trade but so far Didak has not repaid them. Didak should look at Brad Green from Melbourne as he improved his fitness and has stepped up into a midfield role.

Cole still makes mistakes but at least it isnt through a lack of trying. I was pleased with the effort of Cole.

Presti showed good dash, pity it was when he was running to the bench. He has shown what he is capable of in the past but so far this year he has had a shocker.

Josh Fraser still gets brushed aside in some contests a bit too easily the most obvious one was in the first half where a midfielder brushed him aside. But at least Fraser has a go and he was the spark in the last quarter.

All i know is that if we bring the same shit to the MCG next week we will get absoloutely flogged by Essendon. Please someone stand up in the team and show some leadership and get our season back on track.

It hurt to see us go down like that, really did.

Our forward line is as weak as all shit, if an opponent is gonna have a 18-20 goal game, you can already count us out, I seriously doubt we are capable of it. We need more consistancy, grunt and belief. BTW, if we converted half of our behinds (6) we would've won. Some damn frustrating misses.

Some of you guys say that it's stupid to leave it down to injuries. While it is nowhere near totally the fault of them, it's certainly a factor to take into consideration.

WTF is this about being out of the race? No bloody way. Last year, we were 3-3 round 6. If our boys can snatch a win on ANZAC Day (maybe they'll be inspired? Bloody hope so), and continue their fairly good run at Footy Park, we're in the same shoes basically. Not to mention that we finished 2nd that year, so we can afford to do a little worse....Maybe we could do without the fade away in the last few games of the season.

Last two years, we've earned a double chance.....we've never needed it, why need it this year? We are just a little shellshocked at the moment, but we are just as in it as ever, don't write our boys off guys, have faith in 'em.

If Freo kicked straight we would have lost by 10 goals. Farmer alone kicked 4 or 5 points.
