The bright light today was Luke Mullins.
Cole also looked like he is starting to get the pace of AFL footy.

Why o why does MM insist on using C1 as a forward. He has neither the pace or the confidence to do the job. A couple of weeks in the ressies to help the boy get some confidence please Mick, before you destroy him for good.

No Bux, no Taz, not much hope by the looks of things.
Bright side? Priority picks!!!

Well, this may be one of those times that I'm glad I'm 3000kms away and can't see the Pies, except on the tele. The only joy is watching the younger players learning. I thought the following new players were good:

-Swan, looks the goods. He's solid, plays maturely and is strong
-Cole, played well and will keep on improving, be patient
-Mullins, can read the play and stay composed with his disposal
-Shaw, did some good things
-Richards, can tap, but still learning the game and will need to be persisted with.

O'Bree, Cloke and Didak are out of form and confidence. Its obvious we'll have to take a step backwards for some of this season to build our depth. We can't drop players because we don't have depth. MM has to be prepared to try 3 or 4 newbies each week.

It's probably a blessing in disguise that we have injuries as now we can blood the young players and build our list. I think our window has passed for a while. The Pies have been real good value the last two years so I think we need to be grateful, not panic and be patient as we do a minor rebuild.

Them's the breaks.

Does anyone agree?

No point in having height if you can't even use it though..

benny johnson was best on ground (for pies).. Only player having a consisent year, its a shame he has no team mates doing the same..
he lead kicks, handballs, disposals, tackles and frees for, for us...
i think we have found a replacement for buckley when he retires.. we just need some other players to stand up...

Cloke, Presti and Obree were shocking AGAIN.. Rocca had no presence..
The youngsters were OK but not brilliant, Mullins and King did a few things but not enough to cement a spot in the team...

Cole and Shaw were better than usual but still not all that good...

Swan, Holland and Fraser cant be blamed, Clement and licuria can be.. i dont know what has happened to licuria, but he is nothing like last year..maybe a stint at willy for him.

shocking play by 18 players which is enough to lose a game for the team.
im just dreading the pumping we are gonna cop next week..its gonna be worse than today...

I am not saying we can't make the finals from this position (1 win, 3 losses). Thought I would add it into the discussion.

In 2001 Adelaide finished 8th winning 12 games to make the finals.

In 2002 West Coast finished 8th (on percentage) winning 11 games. Both Geelong and Hawthorn finished on the same points.

In 2003 Essendon finished 8th winning 13 games.

We have to win at least 10-12 games from the remaining 18 to make the finals.

These players are the best we have except for Taz and Bucks. They are virtually guaranteed to get a game whether they play good or bad.Last year at least we had the molloys and Scotlands putting the pressure on so that other guys would pull their weight so as to keep their spot.

94% of our list would not get a game at St Kilda or Brisbane on their current form.Clokey,Woey,Didak need a go in the ressies but we have no replacements.

All I can say is that we are lacking tougness and hardness, are the mental scars surfacing.

This idea of not being physically prepared is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard in my life. These guys reach a level of fitness that remains at a close constant unless they take four months off and had Hungry Jacks eight times a day.

I keep hearing our coaching staff talk tough to the media,I wish they would stop because I am embarrassed by it.

All day long we bag Acker, at least his actions back up his words, for us it is the opposite.

Anzac day, lets hope it is not a repeat of last year.

Consider Ourselves lucky today

We should have lost by 100+ Points and if Matthew Lloyd has he's kicking boots on next week, we will!

Highlight was the "Farmer's A Wanker" Chant

Accountability. Remember that? We had it for half a year last year and the latter stages of 2002. We have none now. All of O'brees possessions are by himself. Whatever happened to licca the tagger? Defense first then run off his opponent - that's what won him 2 copeland trophies. He seems to have forgotten about that.

Fumbling. Where is the sure hands we've seen...are the boys "scared?" We put our arms and hands to the ball but not our bodies. Stop reaching for the bloody thing and go in with your body and get it. The avalanche of goals started in the 2nd qtr when we started fumbling everything, causing turnovers.

Well played presti, johno. Holland did the job on Bell, Lonie broke even with Pavlich. The rest you can raffle. However if we are going to bag, maybe leave cole and shaw out of it. They at least had a crack, which is more than I can say for most of the others. We really missed Leon today. Without taz he is another option. Dids is in a slump.

Keep the faith people. It was a dirty day (again). The umpires crucified us (not that it would have made much difference). We will bounce back at some stage...just hope when we do it's not too late.
My oxygen is Collingwood. Without it I die.

Agree 100% with Joe. There is no pressure for established players to keep their place as they know there are no ready made replacements. A sure fire way to encourage mediocrity.
