Ray Fidge, I am making the trip down from Sydney to watch the match. When I went to the Telstra Dome last year it was The Locker Room which seemed to be where the action was. Maybe others could enlighten me as to where Joffa will do his speech, but the Locker Room was a lot of fun.
I still reckon Rocca got that goal
We didn't get our 40 acres and a mule
But you're my piece of the rock
And I love you CC

We can still win the flag in '04 if we lose. But a win would be handy:Caution: Hot Pies wrote:Our Biggest H & A game for a couple years. Lose, goodbye 2004, Win puts us back in the hunt.
a) For the fact that we need a win
b) We need a morale boosting victory (ie: Vs Hawks '02 & Dons '02). A good win would enject enthousiasum and put a pep in every-ones step.
IN: C.Cloke, Mullins, McGough, Williams.
OUT: Taz , Wakes , Cole, R.Shaw.
Cam Cloke: Needs a go NOW
Mullins: Ditto. Gives Licca, Bucks & Burnsy help around the packs.
McGough: Must Play!!!! MM & co please note he has never let us down!
Williams: One last chance. Get into the season now or it will all fall away.
More To Come

johnson26 agree with you, but i dont think that mick will drop shaw our cole, remembering back to last years round 18 win against geelong, when goughy pretty much won the game for us, we sucked the after half time he went into the middle and got the hard ball and.... guess what we won. lets hope mick comes to his senses and starts to coach, instead of favouring players who arent doing their job properly (cole, o'bree for starters)

He has to drop Shaw & Cole. They are under-performing. Send them to Willi & get them back to basics before their carrers slip down the drain (Shaw in particular).magpie meg wrote:johnson26 agree with you, but i dont think that mick will drop shaw our cole, remembering back to last years round 18 win against geelong, when goughy pretty much won the game for us, we sucked the after half time he went into the middle and got the hard ball and.... guess what we won. lets hope mick comes to his senses and starts to coach, instead of favouring players who arent doing their job properly (cole, o'bree for starters)

I reckon wakelin will play this week. The club always talks up the facial injuries i reckon, they first said he was gonna be out for 8 weeks. Just like they did with jimmy clement, and he had a miraculous recovery.
Tarrant wont play till ANZAC Day i dont feel. As he pulled his hammy on thursday, thats a 17 day turn around until the ANZAC Day game. They say 21 days for any hamstring injury, so i reckon coz his is minor (he was still running on the bench during the game.) Plus he'll be having constant physio so he'll probably be right.
Theres no sense in rushing him back, and if they did he could strain or tear it further, which could see us without him for longer. Soft tissue injuries need time and strengthening to get themselves right.

The main concern is if we can kick enough goals. If we can do that, we're in with a good chance. I just hope we play well, some semblance of form would be a bit of a confidence booster.
I've been watching alot of our old games from 2002-2003 and our forward line was electric. In that game against adelaide in 2002 where we kicked 9 goals in the 2nd quarter, taz wasnt playing then either. Josh did great up forward for us, along with dids and leon. Anthony didnt have that much of an influence and we still looked so dangerous.
Lets hope MM can throw some things around, but PLEASE... not Jason Cloke up forward.

Cloke needs to be that spare man in defence like he was when he started out, moving him up forward is a bad idea, it hasn't worked, not once, needs to be stopped now before it costs us more games. Shaw needs more then one week at Williamstown, he's not up to standard, needs to work on his ball skills.
I think it's time for Cameron Cloke to come in, I'm not sure yet who else i would throw into the side. Going to be a big game, I'm hoping the Maggies will bounce back after last weeks loss.

Cameron Cloke will not play. He was knocked unconscious during Saturday's game for Williamstown.Johnson#26 wrote:Cam Cloke: Needs a go NOW

He only played 1 and a half quarters and then was knocked out cold. Hardly the form for a call up to the firsts. A few more weeks I'd say.... Cloke crashed to the ground midway through the second quarter...
The umpires held up play for about three minutes as Cloke was taken to the Williamstown dressing rooms.
...the 19-year-old surprisingly returned to the Williamstown interchange bench midway through the third quarter.
But on medical advice, he decided not to return to the field.
Get back on top.

COLLINGWOOD v Fremantle
Sunday 2.10pm, Telstra Dome
Andrew Williams played brilliantly for Williamstown in Saturday's grand-final rematch against the Box Hill Hawks. Williams had 30 touches across wing and half-back. Unfortunately, the Magpies' senior list of injured stars is depressingly long: Tarkyn Lockyer (broken foot) is still four to six weeks away, Chris Tarrant (hamstring) will miss one to two weeks, Shane Wakelin (fractured cheekbone) is out for one to three matches and Leon Davis (finger) will be sidelined for two weeks.

Last Time They Met:
Collingwood: 15.9.99
Fremantle: 7.16.58
In the match remembered by many a Magpie supporter as the 'Bob Rose Match', the emotion packed Magpies rolled the Dockers to the tune of 41 points with Buckley, in the middle of his purple patch, Johnson & Burns leading the way.
Ladder Positions:
Fremantle: 6th
Collingwood: 12th
Since 1995:
Collingwood: 8
Fremantle: 3
Form:
Collingwood: 1-2
Fremantle: 2-1
This match between Colliongwood & Fremantle at Telstra Dome on Sunday is an absoulutly crucial match for the Magpies. After a gutsy effort in the 1st half last week, the Pies fizzled out to lose by 10 goals with Lynch kicking 7. The season is in the balance for the Magpies with a win seeing us 2-2 and a loss seeing us at 1-3. Seeing it is a must win game, this finals hardend unit should be able to come up with the goods. Yes, I am taking risks with my team. We play a 5 man forward line with Fraser in the square & Didak at his feet. Rocca the focal point at CHF with Holland at his feet changing with Bucks & Burnsy. Williams is the 3rd tall. It is a 5 man forward line so that it frees up Jason Cloke to play where he plays best - loose man across half back. With injurys decimating our best line up, I have called on young guns to make a stand. Mullins should debut for his 1st senior game after his performance for Williamstown last week & McGough is also brought back as he is prehaps the one player who, along with Burns, can match Bell as an extreactor in the middle. Kinnear is back, on his absoulute last chance. They say crisis creates oppotunity. Whilst this is not a crisis, the injurys have opened the dorr for Kinnear to repay the faith of the coaching staff with a great game and cement his spot in the side. Without Tarrant, the forward line is looking small so Richards must take full responcibility and at least brake even with Aaron Sandilands & Troy Simmonds. Fraser should only be called upon for ruck work for the last 5 minutes of each quarter, when he will be freash and ready up against a tiring Simmonds/Sandilands. Fraser plays one out in the square, most likely on Graham Polak. Rocca with most likely be manned up on by the duo of Pavlich & McPharlin. Expect to see Pavlich go forward. When he does, Clement should take him as he is tall enough (Clement 190cm to Pavlich 192cm) and fast enough to match up on the star utillity. The Pies will look to gain assendancy in the back-line, with Cloke to revert back to his 2002 form by taking couragous grabs and thumping the ball forward. After Cloke has wolloped the ball forward, expect hard runners Johnson & Lonie to pounce and go on their customary long runs. Jeff Farmer, should he play, will be tagged by Johnson, whole the ever elousive Medhurst will be minded by Cole (if he plays) or Lonie. In the middle, Buckley will be taken by his usural minder Carr. Buckley almost always plays a blinder against Freo, having collected 46 touches in round 2 2001 & 40 touches in round 15 1997 - His 100th game. Holland will go to Bell, Burns on Haselby & Licuria on Headland. Woewodin should match up on the 150 gamer McManus. The old warrier Shane Parker will match up on Didak. This could be a crucial miss-match as Didak has had a slow start to the season. 'Dids' to too quick & has too many footy smarts for Parker, whose aging legs could be feeling the pain at the end of the 1st quarter.
All up, we'll win because we have to. We are now an experianced unit & have the ability to go up a level. Now is the time to get into gear before the season slips away. Pies by 22 points.

Put lokan in the forward line, he's a good mark, a good (pretty accurate), strong bodied and super fast, and if one of the freo midfielders is spanking one of ours then stick lokan on him because as we have seen in the last year he has a great ability to shut down the opposistion (ie, andy mcleod last year in adelaide)

I reckon Lokan could be this years Betheras of 2002. Catches the opposition by surprise and bobbs up for a few goals.magpie meg wrote:Put lokan in the forward line, he's a good mark, a good (pretty accurate), strong bodied and super fast, and if one of the freo midfielders is spanking one of ours then stick lokan on him because as we have seen in the last year he has a great ability to shut down the opposistion (ie, andy mcleod last year in adelaide)

Think Big Billy is only playing reserves footy at Willy - no need to rush him in, particularly when he's only played 4-5 games in almost 18 months given his shoulder reco.Johnson#26 wrote:Thanks Cam.
