I was at the game. Even Bucks made clumsy disposal mistakes that turned the ball over and cost us dearly. The team is only a shadow of the hardened team that beat all other teams in the top eight prior to last years grand final. They've got to string 4 quarters of good play together or chances of making the final eight this year will be remote. Someone needs to start coaching the coaches methinks.

Go Lisey girl. You tell 'em.
I seem to remember us beating these guys one September night at the MCG. Was it a dream? Anyone got the tape. I am sure MM has.
Thursday night certainly wont stop me from turning up to watch the Freeo match.
I watched the second half. Right till the end. It wasn't pretty, but I expect to see a big turn around for the next match. Regardless of which 22 run out with the black and white on.

Lones37 - you must be joking.
Lones37 - 'only player not scared of physical contact?'
Watch the second quarter and you will see Johnson pull out of the ball beacuse he saw J.B. coming in for it.
I'll bet he had to change his shorts and half time.
He jibbed it and pulled out - Bravehearts cousin Chickenheart.
The Lions played hime like they did C1 last year- let him get the ball and he will turn it over.
Who are the worst foot skilled players on the Lions list ???????????
Mal Michael would be the worst and about the only.
Pies - Lica, Johnson, Cole, C1, Presti etc.,
This is why we are not in their league !!!!

My point was he will never be dropped. Ever. To even suggest that on the basis of one little incident is not very smart.
Maybe some talk and he would of went for it. Maybe he did hesitate a little, but that would be a first. Ask Vandenberg. If he was running straight at him, i bet he wouldnt have hesitated.

Where to indeed!
We can whinge all we like about all sorts of crap reasons as to why we were comprehensively bent over on Thursday night. None of it is gonna bring back 4 points and none of it is gonna help us get over the line against Freo. Plain and simple - WE WERE SOFT AS HELL. Sure, the $600k the Lions have up their sleeve helps to retain a quality core group of players. But even Manangatang 3rds will kick your arse if you just stand there and watch them for long enough. If I see 2 or 3 opposition players drawing straws for the footy once more while our blokes stand around wondering if a tackle or diving on a boot to smother is gonna hurt too much, I will fair dinkum spew up. Is there anything as frustrating as watching a team not have a real crack? I use the term 'team' very loosely at this stage of the year because we aren't. Yeah, Lica coughed it up to Aka who kicked a post-hitting goal but how the <snip> did Aka get within coo-ee of him in the first place. Presti almost baulked Aka to give him a free run at it. A lot of people are crapping on about the delivery to Richo and Lynch and how you can't stop that. Bullshit!! That's what defenders get paid to do. The only way you can't stop it is if you are simply no match for your opponent. And at the moment, what forward wouldn't think they are gonna towell up our defence. Whilst we may be 'a dedicated and disciplined group of young footballers' down back, there isn't one team that FEARS us. No-one runs out thinking they are in for a tough day at the office against our backs. What we need is a giant dose of prick injected into a few of em. After Lynch smashed Wakes, I'm sure that there was still enough time left in the game to make him earn every extra touch he got. Did our blokes impose any physical stuff on him at all - NO. And I don't mean anything illegal - just make him earn them the hard way. I'm sure Wakes will feel loved as he watches a full replay at training.
I <snip> hate losing. But I hate losing even more when the hearts not in it. As dearly departed Grandpa used to say, "It doesn't matter whether you win or lose it's how you play the game.............BUT IF YOU DO LOSE, YOU BETTER CRAWL FROM THAT GROUND WITH EVERY MUSCLE ACHING, LUNGS GASPING FOR AIR AND BLOOD POURING FROM EVERY PART OF YOU BODY BECOUSE THEN, AND ONLY THEN, CAN YOU LOOK YOU TEAMMATE IN THE EYE AND SAY YOU HAD A CRACK AT IT.
You need to raise the bar Pies, and you need to raise it quick.

I've read a teeeensy bit of this sticky, some people were saying we're done for the year. I reckon we are far from it.
We, as a side at the moment are underdone, then w/ Taz and Wakes gone, well, that was just adding insult to injury.
Our forward line is a very fragile one. We need Taz and Rocca each week to hold it together, with those two combining, we then need the 'x' factor, the random people that decide to fire each week. Your Dids, Frasers and (as shown in this game) Lokans.
Rocca is such a brilliant player, I have such high regards for him. He, although underdone, continually manages those lovely, and usually trustworthy 50m + bombs, and those great wheel-arounds. I think he will be a key part to success this year.
Burnsy, oh my dear god, Burnsy. An absolute champ, nuff said.
Basically, yes, we are relying on a few individuals, but which side doesn't, really? We will continue to develop. Bring on the Dockers!
PS. Umpiring was shit.

I'm with you there Blyblo. I don't think they were as soft as in the grannie, but they didn't retaliate or get riled up at all. That's what I mean about the "professional" attitude of Collingwood - they just accept that Brisbane playing with extreme brutality is a legitimate and effective part of the game.
Well in that case they'd damn well better go "professionally" APE and retaliate by smashing the living shit out of em with every legal or paralegal chance they get, if necessary until the team with the last player left standing wins as he hobbles his aching body alone from each center bounce to dribble through goal after goal (and gain valuable percentage). Otherwise what happened Thursday will recur ad nauseum especially in finals if we even make it this year. Obviously the maggots are not providing any protection.
Added 11/4: On the other hand we were carving them up for the first 1/4 and a half, so that is very encouraging. AS Scott Burns suggests (at official page) maybe experimenting is paying off? However I still think they have to play Brisbane much tougher or it will just be literally a slaughter every time.
An idea for suspensions: suspension should also include a mandatory suspension for the next meeting of the same 2 clubs - ie Lynch should not be able to play against woods the next time they meet and maybe not the one after if serious enough.
