Yeh, the Ratpack was not a good influence on our younger blokes.

  Well said Piesnchess.
Good luck to Heater for whatever is to come.
Shall never forget his librarian moment or him throttling that Port player in the goal square - the two extremes of Heath Shaw :)

Dunno what sort of readers you two are, but I'd be a little disturbed if I were settling into a comfy chair with a good book and the librarian snatched it out of my hands.

You’d be more upset if he pulled the chair out from under you.

I remember being at Collingwood FC dinner one night with a Q&A session with then captain, Scott Burnes. Scotty was asked what he thought of Heater (amongst a few others) and I'll never forget his answer.... "If he (Heater) was in a blue on the field, I'd think twice about going over to help him out!" That, from the skipper, and a bloke who 'flew the colours'! I've said it before - I love Heater - but that spoke volumes to me and was all I needed to know about the culture and Heater's attitude.

I remember thinking immediately after that Port final, that if I was a Pies player I might have been reported for striking Shaw.

So, given that Burns was captain in 2008, that predates Heater winning the flag?

Heater had played 71 games at the end of 2008. It makes you wonder how he could play another 254 games of AFL over a further 12 seasons, if he had such a thoroughgoingly bad attitude.

He found a new rat pack in Mumford haha. Birds of a feather

Heater was a gun and a work horse, no doubting that. Like I said, I wish he’d found a way to pull his head out of where the sun don’t shine, and Buckley had done a Malthouse and looked the other way, he could have stayed at the club we might have got another flag.

The peeps dissing Heath are fools, if we we're doing a best Collingwood side of the century - he'd be a lock for the team... i mean jeez all things considered he'd be pretty close to being in the AFL team of this century considering how consistent he's been through out his career.

2008 was the year of the great lie. Burns was captain and he was lied to by Shaw and Didak. Burns and the Club publicly went into bat for them only to find out later they’d lied to everybody. That’s probably the context for Burn’s comment.

Burns said the same in his press conference at the time. That was a huge mistake. Defend the guy publicly. Privately, do what you want. Take Heater out the back and beat the **** out of him if you're really so angry, but don't throw him under the bus publicly.

I will always rate Shaw one of our greats, had some moments yes, but always had a crack and was a big reason for our 2010 win.
