The first of two episodes with Dayne Beams. Just watched the first one and it's gut-wrenching.
And going from the weight he's put on - yes, he's played his last game of AFL footy

lets face it, he doesn't want to come back..
I used to really like him as a player. He was a class above the rest. Not sure how I feel about him now, with all the innuendo about his issues. When he is talking in the interview, I find it hard to believe that he is being totally honest..
Am I being too cynical??

Well, the tears were what got me, so maybe I'm just too soft!orie wrote:lets face it, he doesn't want to come back..

What did you think he was being less than honest about?

Do you remember the time Billy Brownless and Brian Taylor played on each other in EJ Whitten match? They looked like two walruses waddling around after the pill. It was revolting and embarrassing. What'sinaname wrote:Sad that he intentionally crashed his car.
Definitely won't be back. Has lost all conditioning and looks more like Billy Brownless these days.

Disappointing that he feels the club didn't support him enough when he came back to Melbourne.
We paid the Lions and Beams heaps for him to return, and he gave us nothing.
Clearly he wasn't honest with the club, when he decided he wanted to come back. Someone at the club should have done their due diligence before we came to the arrangement.

Still looking to blame others, what a piece of you know what.
Came down here in part to avoid major gambling debts in QLD if you believe the jungle drums, thought they wouldn't go interstate, and then gets an oxy addiction from the stress of owing money to serious people.
And we all know the story of what happened to that chick after the GF and Beams role therein....
Sketchiest character we have had at the Club in years

Mate even for you that’s a silly commentPies4shaw wrote:To be fair, he didn't give us nothing - he helped destroy a perfectly good salary cap.
He didn’t approach us it was the Lions who did when he wouldn’t sign a lucrative contract extension of 3 further years on bigger coin than he was already on
He said to them at the time he would only go back to Collingwood as that was a promise he made Eddie when he left
He took a substantial pay cut coming back but he wanted to be close to Kelly’s his wife family with his young family
The Lions paid a considerable sum of his salary for years 1&2 so he wasnt costing the club much in the cap considering some of the people we were over paying at the time and still do
I’m happy to agree him not playing hurt the club and team no arguments there it did
I had spoken at length previously on his personal demons and won’t go into it again
His recent comments come from a person in a dark place who is still looking for someone to blame for his own errors in life
I’m still in contact with Dayne and his slowly moving forward with his life and still has many issues to resolve
So let’s just leave it be now he has gone from the club his part of our history
How people view it is there choice but I would hate to think our supporters would be happy to kick someone when there down especially a former premiership player and B&F winner
I am with Qld magpie on this.qldmagpie67 wrote:Mate even for you that’s a silly commentPies4shaw wrote:To be fair, he didn't give us nothing - he helped destroy a perfectly good salary cap.

Over the years he has been honest with us about Daynes life.
The club should have been more proactive in finding out what the true situation was.
