Adam Schiff is wasting the nation’s time with impeachment hearings

In their first day of public impeachment hearings, Democrats made clear just how weak their case is.

In beyond-dull testimony, the Dems’ first witnesses, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State George Kent and US Chargé d’Affaires in Ukraine Bill Taylor, noted their displeasure with the fact that there were “two channels” (a “regular” and an “irregular” one) to Ukraine, and at some point the goals of the two diverged.

Taylor and Kent complained that President Trump conditioned US aid on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announcing that his country would investigate corruption, specifically: Ukrainian interference in the 2016 election and payoffs to then-Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter.

That was a policy they disliked, because they feared it would weaken Ukrainian-American ties and Kiev’s ability to defend itself from Russia.

Sorry, but it’s not their place to second-guess Trump or his policies. The president sets foreign policy, not they; if he thought it was important for Ukraine to help uncover evidence of corruption, that’s his call.

^ The best argument as to why the presidency should be abolished. Governments have checks and balances for a reason; the idea that some God-king should be able to ride in over the top and do whatever the hell he wants is, obviously, dysfunctional. Maybe it took Trump to make those problems apparent, but the flaws have been embedded in the system since day one.

The President has a lot less power than you seem to think. He and his team ARE one of the checks and balances. You only have to look at activist courts and insane politics to see that having someone at the top whose main job is to say "No" to things rather than set policy is a good thing.

There is of course an issue with 'executive orders' and overreach but the other branches of Government, the judicial in particular have their own issues with overreach; hence the checks and balances.

The President is an anachronism from when the nascent U.S. decided to replace a foreign King with a local, "democratic" King. It should become a ceremonial role.
Also, the Senate should be abolished (here and over there).
Supreme power should rest with the people's tribunes.

As for politically appointing the judiciary - what a disaster.

Sorry but that is just plain wrong.

Congress approved the delivery of Javelin missiles and if the President wants to hold them up he (under the Laws in the US Constitution) has to ask for Congres to agree to the delay and explain to them why such a delay would be in AMERICA's best interests! Congress then would vote on it. He did neither of things, probably because he knew what he was doing was illegal!
The POTUS is NOT a KING and if he is INCAPABLE of getting things done with-in the proper legal-framework he should step down!!

Heres a thought though, if Dumpf was convinced that there was corruption in Ukraine why did he not ask the CIA, the FBI, the NSA or a plethora of other US agencies to do the investigating?
Probably because they would have told him they don't re-investigate every hair-brained Conspiracy Theory that lands on the Presidents deck!
