Weideman, Silvagni, Higgins and Buddy :S
News, or media speculation, from the past few days;
Weideman has asked for $650k a year and the Demons dont seem to believe he is worth that. The Dees have also expressed interest in Sydneys Zak Jones. We wont have the trade chips to get Weid over. But he'd fit in nicely into our forward line.
Jack Silvagnis name has also come up as someone (Pagan) in the media believes he should ask for a trade. That would be interesting to see what would happen if he did ask for a move. There's no room for sentiment in footy, but what about spite?
Shaun Higgins wants to play for a contender. The now 31 year old could fill a void for a team pushing for a flag in 2020. He doesn't fill an urgent need for us. Maybe he should have stayed with the Dogs?
Lance Franklin has also been mentioned in trade talks, with todays HS mentioning the Pies as a destination. This is very unrealistic. Carlton would probably offer the world for him, but he wont be winning any flags there. I'd much rather go after the younger Weideman tbh.

Driver who used to post on here is a politicician in Perth. (Previously was a MLA in Prahran. His son is very good mates with Tom Langdon so if young Ed wants someone to help him in Perth driver is probably the man. He might be sdvising Langdon to go to the bright side.
Annoying opposition supporters since 1967.

Problem is, we're screwed for trade chips.
Free agency might net us someone, but trading will be difficult.
Is Weideman worth 650k a year? Not yet. But even if he said trade me to Collingwood, we have nothing to satisfy them. And now Ed Langdon is playing well (he's just about Freos second best player), we'll find that a tough trade too.
I've also heard the straight swap rumor of Jake Kelly for Matt Scharenberg.
Picks wont be enough, so we'd have to be prepared to lose some good players.
Higgins and Franklin can stay where they are.

'The No.9 draft pick from 2015 has kicked just five goals in six AFL matches this year and went goalless in the Dees’ two most recent games, with Goodwin acknowledging that playing Weideman in the VFL was a consideration.
“That’s a decision we’ll have to make, where he’s best-placed to continue to develop,” Goodwin said.
“He’s played 26 games. He’s evolving. There’s a lot of pressure on him.
“He needs to play a little bit better, but at the same time after 26 games we’ve just got to give the kid time to play, the game, develop, and you’ll see improvement over a period of time.”
Weideman’s form issues come as the key forward remains in the midst of contract negotiations with Melbourne.'

Weideman is at the wrong club.
If he goes to a club that plays for each other, a club whose players play for the jumper, a club whose players play for the coach, for the fans and for the history of the club, then he could become anything.
Even tho he's been dropped, it'll still require a first round pick. Something we dont have.
