Practice match details. (Updated 20/02/04 - pics added)

Post by Dale61 »

Williamstown have their first practice match tomorrow (Friday 20/02). Start time is scheduled for 2pm, and is to be played at McHale Stadium.

Opponent - Box Hill.

If last year's pre-season is anything to go by, tomorrow will be used to gauge the fringe players and those not yet signed to a contract.

Expect some pics early evening.

Due to the extremely high temps at McHale Stadium, it was decided to call off todays practice match.

A decision was made at 1.30pm, when the temp was 38, that the game would be put back an hour, but at 2.30pm, the temp had breached the 39 degree barrier, and it was then that the match was called off.

The Williamstown squad did, however, have a training run of just on an hour, ending with an intra-club practice match.

I was able to take a few shots, but a lot of the names are unknown.

Good stuff Dale. Any chance of a short report on the Collingwood players. I would be interested in hearing about Rowe. By all reports his practice match form should have earned him a trip west.
Do not adjust your mind. The fault is in reality.

Canberra, a report is easier said than done. I spent the majority of the match trying to work out who was who, and once I had done that, the training run was over.

However, how they played was no real indication of their abilities as it was stinking hot (probably a touch hotter than when you were down here playing two weeks ago), so there was no real intensity.

Also, with players constantly changing jumpers at each break, and with the 'whites' not having numbers, this made the task of identifying players that much harder.
