i'm a little surprised we haven't shared our views on this very curly issue. i must admit, i'm conflicted on this one. I abolutely believe a sporty transgender athlete should have the ability to compete in the sport she love. I also get that the AFLW is a very young organization, and as a case study, her case is complicated by the physical attributes (a 5 foot 5, 60 kilo trangender person for example would likely have been an easier first case). i also think that the way she and the AFLW handled it was pretty first class.

She seems like a really decent person and seems extremely popular among the female football community. Believe it or not, she is also an excellent european handball player but what is crazy is that she meets the olympic standard sufficient to compete in the OLYMPICS in handball!!

So she cant play AFLW but she can compete as a woman for Australia in handball.

What are people's thoughts on this (I am only interested in hearing from people who have opinions not based on bigotry?) I must say, i've been really impressed by the fact that the bigotry i have seen has been very limited to just a fringe element. On the whole, we are addressing this issue like adults which is very reassuring. .

There's a thread on this in the Victoria Park Tavern Forum (which many here may never have visited or even been aware of).
