Honestly if we let him slip to Richmond or Carlton Swoop is going to get upset.
I hate this deal. I'd rather us get a late first rounder and do a straight swap and still take 6 into the draft. elite talents lurk at 6. risky bets like Schache at 18. why trade one elite talent for 2 risky bets.
I'm in the same boat, not sure what we have to trade out that gets us a late first rounder though.
I don't mind Swoop's deal though, a 12 pick downgrade in a weak draft for a bloke with Shaq's upside is more than palatable in my opinion.

It's funny because didnt we swap picks 41 and 36 with them already?
What I dont like about this lad, is that he walked out on a Grand Final. Sure, it's NEAFL. But it's still a Grand Final. And still something to be proud of. What is one more week away from home when you can be a part of a Premiership?
And then you look at Tippett in the same match not giving a fk when the team lost.
Is his heart really in it? Or have Brisbane just ruined any development for him?
Another thing, the boy (and remember that... he's still a very young man) has shown a lot of courage.. resigning with a club he really doesn't want to be at.
He's done the right thing but that still hasn't stopped being home sick, so I think we can defiantly cut him a little slack in the morals department.
His manager said on SEN that his physical testing data shows his body was worn out at the end of the season (mentally as well), and that he didn't feel comfortable taking the spot of a regular NEAFL player in the GF. Make of that what you will.

How do you think Schache was viewed when he went pick 2 just two years ago?
An elite talent.
Pick 6 this season will come with no more guarantees attached and being able to land another player within the top 20 appeals to me.
Swoop, Swoop, Swoop mate, I ask you, have we ever gone wrong with a top 10 draft pick?

There's been big rumours up here for a long time that his general attitude is way below the expected standard of a AFL player.
They've tried many things with the kid including giving him specialist one on one coaching with Jonathon Brown to providing him with a personal pyschcologist
Home sickness could be true or it could be a bit of spoiled brat behaviour from a young player who just think he doesn't have to work hard to achieve any form of success
If the lions are prepared to accept a late first round pick for mine it would sound massive alarm bells after they gave up pick 2 for him.
Buyer beware
Do your home work really well on this one
I wouldn't be offering any more than a 2 year deal and then it would come with massive incentive clauses in his contract as a safe guard for the club.
No need to get into a bidding war for him if he nominates us then it has to be on our terms not his or the lions
I know nothing about his background other than that he was 3 years old when his dad died. I can understand him not wanting to be in Qld if his mother and brother are in Victoria.
5 from I wasn't aware his father died when he was so young. It does shed a different light on his eagerness to get home then.
I do know for fact the lions had invested in a personal pyschcologist for him all of last season in an attempt to help the lad. Whether that's actually made him more keen to get home I wouldn't know.
For me he comes with a buyer beware tag.
The draft is a lottery but if we do our homework right then we could land a kid who lives and breathes the opportunity to be a AFL player.
Highlight reels by definition only show the highlights. You can pull up highlight reels of lots of players who never made it and wonder why.
Having said that, the vid shows he can take a strong mark on the lead or with a jump from behind, he's tall and mobile, a straight kick and was rated highly by most TAC observers.
he's also had 2 pre seasons so for a KPP he's theoretically ready to go where a kid drafted this year or next year has to do those 2 years to get there.
if we do our due diligence properly, I'd be happy to take him depending on the price. I can't see him wanting a massive contract if the main reason is to be closer to family so could be a good deal.
Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.
