My first reaction was WTF. But apparently the Norm Smith medal has been presented by former Norm Smith medalists and they are going in chronological order. Shannon Grant, who won in 1999, presented the medal last year, and it's Hird's turn, as the 2000 winner, to present it this year.

It would have been pretty churlish to not invite him to present it.

The AFL website says Grant presented it to , Shannon Grant. And the bloke in charge of digital services is temporarily promoted for a one of the sacked execs. Apparemtly the AFL can forgive systematic drug cheating but not a consenting bonk.

Actually Hird should use the occasion to give his Brownlow medal to Jobe Watson
