It's interesting to look at when clubs want to move on older players. You can understand why they do it. But this example is the ultimate back fire.
Mitchell was everything Hawthorn. But at least they had success.
I look at my NHL club who are deciding on keeping two older players. Probably the two best players the club has ever had. But they do not have a Stanley Cup to look back on. That will make the move (if it happens) even harder.

I still think it'll be fought out between Lions/Blues... but gee wizz a win or two would be nice for us right now.

Hate to say it.
I think Carlton (and the Suns) are safe with 3 wins.
You'd think Hawks, Swans and Roos should all be able to win a few more to stay clear.
The Lions with one win and a % of 67 are the HUGE favourite now. With Rockliff out for at least 6 weeks, they'll struggle even more.
But Collingwood sitting 17th with 2 wins is a bit of a worry. The next 2 games against the Hawks and Lions will be very telling.

Well another week has passed, and you'd probably think that it's all over now.
The Lions started well against the Crows, but ended up being thrashed by 80. A loss to Collingwood this week will see the Pies clearly safe and the Lions one step closer to the grand old spoon.
