Who do we need? What are we on the lookout for?
Are we going to look at delisted AFL players at all? (Grimley?)
Will there be any changes to the captaincy?
Will Michael Still remain with the club?
And is there anyone who is on the VFL list that is a chance of finding himself on an AFL list in 2017?

Looking at the list of delisted AFL players, ( http://magpies.net/nick/bb/viewtopic.ph ... 2&start=60 ), I'd like to point out James Polkinghorne.
I think he'd be a great addition to our VFL team.
I'd also like to suggest Anthony Morabito, but I think he'd get a better run elsewhere.
I know winning the VFL isnt the goal of our club, but I'd like to continue on with the winning season we had in 2016. It was such a shit way to end the year, and I'd like to go in thinking we are a top 4 chance again.
I'd hate to sink outside the eight.

Actually, looking at Essendons delisted players, I think there's a few that could offer some VFL leadership in 2017:
Sam Grimley (Kicked bags of goals for Box Hill)
James Gwilt (Could be a good general in the backline?)
Will Hams & Nick Kommer (Both hard at it. Would suit VFL football.)
James Polkinghorne.

I wonder if Morabito is worth a rookie spot.Presti35 wrote:Looking at the list of delisted AFL players, ( http://magpies.net/nick/bb/viewtopic.ph ... 2&start=60 ), I'd like to point out James Polkinghorne.

Given the loss of Witts, I'd also like to see us chasing a player like Lowden.

I dont know?jackcass wrote:I wonder if Morabito is worth a rookie spot.
He didnt get a game for Freo, who were putrid, in 2016. Im unsure if this was because of injury or form?
I mean three knee re-constructions and all the horror run he's had. 3 AFL games from 2011-2016 after 23 in his debut season.
Its a tough call, but I dont know if any club would take a chance on him now with that history.
He's still only 25 and I'd love to see him get the fairytale.
I'd 100% offer him a VFL position, but I'd need some convincing for a rookie spot.

Good one Dave.
I cant believe Jonty was passed on. Tipped to be in the top 20, and then slid to top 40, then not taken in the ND.
And then passed on in the RD.... Dont know how the heck that happened.
Anyway, I think it'd be a great idea to get him in the VFL squad. But he might try his luck elsewhere.
Dont know about Mitch Brown. I think he'll be regretting the offer WCE had on the table for him.

I think we could do with some AFL experienced players int he squad.
Xavier Richards. Bloody hell, surly he regrets not taking that 2 year deal with the Swans now? Essendon had him training at the club but passed. Perhaps we over rated him because he was in the GF. I dont think a move to Pies VFL will help him resurrect his AFL chances. A stand alone club perhaps?
Jack Grimes. To me is a good fit. Rivers might want his former captain at the club. But then again, he might not....
Chris Dawes. Just for the lols. No chance. With his AFL career over, a move into law beckons.
Mitch Clark. Another wasted tallant. No benefit to the VFL squad. WAFL bound?
Courtenay Dempsey. Yeah thanks for not being a part of the 34 Courts. A return to his old QLD is almost certain.
Cam O'Shea. Might be of interest?
Angus Litherland. Similar to X Richards. I thought he was good enough to be on an AFL list. Guess I was wrong.
Matt Spangher. A good bloke to have around a club, but his interest would lie elsewhere I think.

Given our recruiting through the trade and drafts I'd actually like to see us chase a few of the TAC cup kids who were overlooked rather than the AFL listed players. Richards the possible exception.
Doubt Jonty would leave Glenelg where he'll get a senior game every week for a VFL club that has to squeeze senior listed players and existing VFL listed players into a 22 every week.
And there is a salary cap top consider.
