And don't forget the Saints! 50 years and counting (though they have played in five grand finals in the intervening period).

What I find amazing is that Melbourne have managed two grand final appearances since Richmond's last one. Melbourne!

And long may that continue as well.
I'd prefer to see Melbourne win a flag before Richmond if given the choice.
That tells me that you are a lot younger than me. I lived through Melbourne's six premierships in ten years -four of them involved beating the Pies in Grand Finals. Yes we beat them in 1958 and stopped them winning four in a row but they still won six in ten years. As far I am concerned Melbourne blighted my childhood and the only team I have greater hostility towards is Carlton. I don't particularly want to see Richmond winning a flag but I would definitely prefer to see them win one than Melbourne.

I'm only 22 years old, so I haven't seen Melbourne experience success the way previous generations have. Plus half my family are Melbourne supporters so naturally I have a soft spot for them, but understandably others have bitter memories of them.

At least we can agree unanimously that we all hate Carlton with passion!

Both absolute smashings though.

Melbourne picked bad years to make a tilt at the flag.
1988, nobody was going to beat Hawthorn once they clicked into gear.
2000, nobody was going to beat Essendon, 21:1 [just] for the season, after they cocked up the 1999PF to Carlton.
