First Academy team in

Wonder if the other one will succeed tomorrow. Seriously the gift that keeps on giving, even more so than the COLA. Has the domination of the Hawks wallpapered what could be a longer nightmare period for the other teams?

But the frickin' academies... its absolute bs that they can have players outside the draft to choose from. I mean that's exactly what Brisbane had with the NT zone that they built their threepeat with. History repeating.

yep and it will justify the hefty price tag of the media rights. keeps the competition afloat for a few more years.

Well NT and Qld then, I stand corrected that's what i meant..

http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2002/ ... 29626.html

"They would join a group of young Queenslanders whom Brisbane had already listed under zone concessions (which at one stage included the Northern Territory as well as its own state), - teenage prodigy Michael Voss, Darryl White, the unheralded Marcus Ashcroft and, a little later, Jason Akermanis and Clark Keating."

How long has it been since Sydney haven't had either a salary cap advantage or draft advantages through acadamies? The draft & salary cap should never be fiddled with. Draft pick order reversed to previous years finishing order is fine. Every club should have the same salary cap. Acadamies should be ran & paid for by the AFL & all players that go through any of them are fair game in what should be an unconprimised draft. Our game has been hijacked for tv rights money.

That's what the Lions did, but what the Giants have far far exceeds that empire building. No only have they had x number of draft picks in the compromised drafts, can trade away guys of Treloar's calibre for future picks from the normal draw, but can effectively do the father son thing with others from the Riverina and Murray zones.
