Mr Dyso,

I hold NSW cricket in not particularly high regard. For yr info, I would place the following ahead of yr highly regarded Hodge.

Katich (NSW), Clarke (NSW), Love (QLD), Hussey (WA); if you wish to go further Lehmann (SA) would also still be in the frame. Hodge is no spring chicken any more and other 30+ men such as Blewett (SA), Maher (QLD) and Cox (TAS) have far superior credentials.

Yes, apart from Clarke, it is not a young list which is perhaps an indictment of the current state of 1st class cricket but yr Mr Hodge is in the same age bracket as many and lets face it not near the front of the queue.

Dear furface,
Granted The Kat is on fire, and he RIGHTFULLY would be next in line. Clarke is learning the caper in the ODI team right now, and that's all fine and well. Mr.Love is lucky to make double digit scores right now and he needs to get his scoring up to what is was the previous 2 summers. Presuming Boofhead Lehmann recovers from injury, he's entitled to keep his spot. No point playing blokes only 80% fit. That's when we dip into our vast pool of fringe players. When the others on the list can score as highly as Hodge has recently, we'll review their claims again.

Furface eh!! This is getting personal.

The Kat, as I recollect, is currently in the Test team and arguably should have claims on a ODI spot. Clarke has undoubted ability, has been pushed by the Sydney media and personally would wait another season before blooding him at Test level. If his performance warrants, maybe a Tour berth.

I repeat, I am NO NSW chauvanist, like to see the Blues get done in most sports actually. However, the shrill shrieks of hardly done by from Victorians can be somewhat wearing on one's ears.

Hodge, over his career has failed to put up the consistancy of performance to realistically worry the selectors. Of yr current Vics, Elliott is certainly intl class and it was sad he didn't nail a long term spot and possibly White and Inness could go places. The rest???

Agree Love's loss of form will cost and Lehmann cannot be assured of a recall but Hodge is no younger than this general group and beleive Blewett and Hussey would offer more.

That was the stupidest thing i'd seen him do since the mid-wicket collision with Mark Waugh in 1996 test.
