With 6 weeks left in the regular season, the news of the remaining players staying/leaving should start to come through.

Tom Bellchambers has signed the offered extension to remain at the club until 2018.

This now leaves:

Michael Hibberd
Ben Howlett
Michael Hurley
Tayte Pears
Brent Stanton
Jobe Watson
SUSPENDED Essendon pair Michael Hibberd and Ben Howlett will wait until later in the year before deciding whether they want to return to the club next season as they mull over their options.

Hibberd would be a good addition if we cannot land Hurley.
Stanton and Hurley remain at Essendon.

Hibberd is officially leaving. Demons looking like the team he wants to go to, but Pies should try for him. Turns 27 in January.

Still waiting on Howlett, Pears and Watson. All washed up imo.

Dons have managed to keep almost everyone.

Ben Howlett signs on for one year.

Not much to see here. Will probably be delisted in 2017.

This leaves only Pears and Watson.

RE: The 12 top-up players.

Matt Dea and James Kelly are being asked by Essendon to remain on the list.

The ruled have been looked at and they will be considered delisted free agents. So both players will have a contract in front of them. I'd love it if someone snatched Dea from under their noses tho.

The others top ups are; Ryan Crowley, Jonathan Simpkin, Mathew Stokes, Mark Jamar, Sam Grimley, James Polkinghorne, Nathan Grima and Sam Michael.

All those guys have most likely played their last AFL game.

Just my opinion, but Sam Grimley would be a good pick up for the VFL team.

Pears has retired, which leave Jobe Watson as the only player who has not made a decision.

Tomorrow, the banned players will be allowed to begin their training for next season.

(And I'd probably expect Jobe to make some kind of surprise appearance at training, signalling his intent to play on).

So Essendon has come to a principal agreement with 18 of the 34 banned players. This leaves another 16 players.

The only one named so far has been Crameri. You'd probably think that the other 17 players no longer play for the club, but I could be wrong. We know that 11 of the 12 from last season returned to Essendon with one being traded to Melbourne. We know that another 5 play for different clubs now.

These settlements would be to avoid another set of court cases, which Essendon simply could not afford to happen. Wether or not we see any court cases linked to health issues could be years away.
