So we expect:

Ben Crocker (5)
Timothy Broomhead (5)
Tyson Goldsack (5)
Jack Frost (5)

to qualify under 20(b) & (g) tomorrow and these guys should (I would expect) hopefully qualify in the game after the bye:

Alan Toovey (4)
Adam Oxley (4)

The real question marks appear to be:

James Aish (4)
Jesse White (4)
Cox (2)

I hope they qualify Aish and Cox as VFL finals would be great experience (I'm pessimistically assuming that we don't win all our remaining senior games and win premiership).

Pretty much.

Should note, Frost and Oxley would both be provisional qualifications under that scenario. That is, they would need to play some additional games in the VFL beyond the minimum 6 in order to ensure that there is not enough AFL left to disqualify them if they were to get a recall.

I would add Williams as a possibility to that list. He'll be up to 4 games played tomorrow (assuming no late change tonight) and he seems to be a bit out of favour at the moment, so don't sleep on Marley appearing in September either.

White might be a slight chance for demotion and qualification if he doesn't fire tonight. All depends of just what their plans for Cox are.

I've given up on Smith being tactically sent back for qualification, but credit to him to come from the rookie list and hold a spot in the senior team in his first year...

Time for Broomy to go up and Caff come back plus Coxy play in the Magoos, I think Aish told us all he needs to play seniors for the rest of the year (last night). No point dropping anyone else back but I really think it would be a great part of Big Mason's learning to play reserves finals
Bucks you just reckon he can still cut it in the middle

Games tallies and scenarios updated. Broomhead, Goldsack and Crocker all locking in their eligibility, while Frost becomes provisionally qualified, but with other criteria he has to meet to remain so...

This week's update to the tally sees Alan Toovey move up to full qualification for the finals after having played today. Adam Oxley also becomes eligible, at least partially. Oxley moves up into the recently created third category, eligible under part of the criteria but needing to either play up to a certain limit of AFL games or stay in the VFL for the remainder of the season (preferable), along with Jack Frost, to fully qualify for September.

Our VFL finals position is also locked in. Northern Blues who are ninth have a bye to come, so can't knock as out.

Considering AFL form of those who are pending qualification, the only realistic chances are Frost, Oxley, Cox (pending Moore's injury) and possibly Williams (Sinclair returning from concussion would help here, but they both played AFL a couple of weeks back)

With this afternoon's injury report, Tim Broomhead becomes the first of our eligibles to be ruled out for the rest of the year through injury, much as he did last year.

Early update, but I've struck Cox off the list of possibles, courtesy of his injury.

If Cloke does take his place on Saturday at Victoria Park, then he will achieve partial qualification under Rule 20 (b), but will have to miss the last 2 AFL games beyond next week, by any means, to lock his eligibility in.

Oxley playing seniors this week doesn't endanger his eligibility just at the moment, but he needs to miss 1 more AFL game (again by any means) to lock his qualification in.

Williams, should he play on Saturday, will be one more VFL game away from full qualification. And frankly, he should stay here...

Frost set to fully lock his qualification in on Saturday, either by playing or missing.

Numbers and tallies updated again. Frost fully eligible, Cloke partially so, Williams one game away from being locked in...

The 8th place in the finals is still up for grabs, but here's how the other 6 teams are shaping:

Port Melbourne + Williamstown

Non aligned clubs, can play anyone

CASEY (aligned with Melbourne)

Eligible:
Dunn, Garland, Grimes, Kennedy-Harris, Ma. King
Pederson, Neal-Bullen, Michie, Newtown, Smith
Spencer, Terlich, Trengove, Weideman, White

Pending Eligible:
Salem (5 VFL/dev)

Injured (indefinite):
Lumumba (1 VFL)

Salem is eligible unless he plays AFL in the next 2 weeks and doesn't reach 6 VFL/development league matches.

Lumumba likely to be eligible, but unlikely to play due to injury

Pending Ineligible:
Brayshaw (8 AFL, 5 VFL)
Dawes (6 AFL, 4 VFL)
M. Jones (9 AFL, 4 VFL)
Oliver (12 AFL, 5 VFL)

All have played AFL after R15, so they need to play 6 VFL/development league matches, Oliver will be confirmed ineligible on 13 AFL matches

Sandringham (aligned with StKilda)

Eligible:
Coughlan, Curren, Delaney, Freeman, Holmes
Lee, Longer, Lonie, McKenzie, Murdoch
O'Kearney, Payne, Pierce, Rice, Saunders
Shenton, Sinclair, Templeton, White, Wright

Pending Eligible:
Webster (11 AFL, 2 VFL)

Injured (season):
Goddard (1 AFL, 5 VFL)

Webster is eligible unless he plays AFL in the next 2 weeks and doesn't reach 6 VFL/development league matches. 13 AFL games will see him ineligible.

Goddard will be eligible, but will not play due to injury

Pending Ineligible:
McCartin (10 AFL, 4 VFL)

McCartin has played AFL after R15, so he needs to play 6 VFL/development league matches.

AFL finals rules applicable to Footscray +Geelong

Week 1 - player must not have played AFL in round 23
Week 2 - can play anyone
Week 3
- AFL side playing semi finals - can play anyone
- AFL side bye - player must not have played in the AFL qualifying final
- AFL side out of finals - qualification rules apply

VFL grand final
- AFL side playing an AFL preliminary final - can play anyone
- AFL side out of finals - qualification rules apply

Footscray (only applicable on exit from AFL finals)

Eligible:

Lynch, Minson, R. Smith, Webb

Injured (season):
Collins

McLean (11 AFL, 2 VFL)
Williams (5 AFL, 5 VFL)

Injured (season):
Murphy (3 AFL, 0 VFL)
Prudden (0 AFL, 2 VFL)

Campbell, Dale, McLean + Williams are eligible unless they play AFL in the next 2 weeks and don't reach 6 VFL matches. 13 AFL games would seeMcLean ineligible.

Dunkley has played AFL after R15, but has reached 6 VFL games, a 13th AFL match would rule him out.

Murphy and Prudden will be eligible, but will not play due to injury

Pending Ineligible:
Boyd (9 AFL, 5 VFL)
Hrovat (2 AFL, 4 VFL)

Injured (season):
Redpath (10 AFL, 4 VFL)

All have played AFL after R15, so they need to play 6 VFL games to qualify. Redpath won't reach this due to injury, but won't be fit regardless

Geelong (only applicable on exit from AFL finals)

Eligible:
Bews, Buzza, Clark, Cornell, Cowan
Gardner, Hayball, Horlin-Smith, Lucey, Luxford
Menegola, Murdoch, Parsons, Smedts, Vardy

Injured (season):
Gregson

Pending Eligible:
Bates (0 AFL, 3 VFL)
Cunico (0 AFL, 2 VFL)
Delaney (0 AFL, 4 VFL)
Lang (12 AFL, 6 VFL)

None of Bates, Cunico or Delaney are likely to play AFL before the year is out, but if they do they need to play 6 VFL matches to qualify

Lang has played AFL after R15, but has reached 6 VFL games, a 13th AFL match would rule him out.

Pending Ineligible:
S. Selwood (1 AFL, 4 VFL)

Injured (season):
Read (0 AFL, 0 VFL)
Thurlow (0 AFL, 0 VFL)

S. Selwood has played AFL after R15, so needs to play 6 VFL games to qualify.

Neither Read or Thurlow have played a match this season and would need to do so, but only in the VFL to qualify.

Old mate Stevo reporting on his 2nd favourite subject (Travis Cloke) tonight, says that his mail is that Trav will play out the year in the VFL, including the finals, but is "odds on" to be elsewhere next year, with the Dogs looming... (at 1:05)

Shit that's gonna look weird, seeing Trav in Doggy colours, or any colours other than Black & White. He won't do much for them, no Magpie forward ever does great at another club. It pisss me off that we won't keep him! He can play brilliant games further up the field and has been great for the Magoos.

Yet another example of Buckley just not having a fkn clue! He's totally destroyed a great footy team because he cannot manage anyone with a personality.
What a tool! Make Taps the senior coach!
