Full Time.

Collingwood 13.14.92
Geelong 5.12.42

GOALS - Cox 2, Matheson 2, Gray 2, Indovino 2, Gault, Kelly, Borthwick, Oxley, Ferguson

Collingwood win their ninth match in a row!

First objective in this final five week stress test complete for the VFL Magpies. And a nice shot of momentum for the club heading into this afternoon's encounter with West Coast...

And they won!

That's go to be, what, the fourth or fifth time they've done that this year, give up a 5+ goal lead to 3QT, then come storming back to snatch it. Bloody hell...

For mine: Goldsack, Frost and Cox (maybe) only. Macaffer has been okay, but I think his papers are stamped.
Oxley and Toovey were both good.

Today's win takes our percentage up from 109.63 coming into the game to 114.09 going out of it.

Doesn't exactly draw us up to the insane percentages of Willy and Casey, but it's nice to have in any event, so I'll happily take the bonus.

Also, we're back into 2nd spot, for the moment. If Coburg can come back and knock off Casey, we'll stay there for the rest of the round...

Well, that didn't go as we would have hoped. Casey thrashed Coburg in the end. We're back down to 3rd (which is still equal first on points).

If we want to stay level on games with Willy, then we'd best hope that Sandringham beat them tomorrow. On the other hand, it wouldn't be the worst thing for Willy to win and put some extra space on another of the chasing pack for us either...

I should note, while the thought pops into my head, that this victory completes a clean sweep of sorts against the Geelong Football Club in 2016: two pre-season encounters (NAB Challenge and VFL practice match), two VFL matches and, of course, that sweet Round 9 victory over the Cats in the AFL.

A nice little statistic, a meaningless one in the grand scheme of things to be sure. But kinda cool, all the same.

ferg sustained a calf injury of sorts so may miss next week. hellier did something to his ankle but not sure if serious. the supercoachcaptain might be able to shed more light on this. he has tremendous vfl knowledge.
Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle.
