You pathetic!
We have 6 rounds of football to go before the AFL Finals series starts.
Sadly (Or not...), we have 2 teams that have won one game each.
Brisbane, who had a win over Gold Coast in round 4.
And Essendon, who had a win over Melbourne in round 2.
This Sunday, these two teams play each other at Etihad stadium.
The question is, which team would you rather see win the spoon?
* Brisbane? A team that caused us some pain in the early 2000's. The have only one spoon to their name (1998).
* Essendon? They have 4 spoons, but have not taken it home since 1933.
The winner of this match will surly avoid the spoon and the embarrassment of possibly winning only one game for the season.
I think Essendon should be able to get up and are also able to beat the Suns a few weeks later. They might get to 3 wins.
The Lions have a much harder run home, in fact, Id go as far to say that if they cannot get over the Bombers, they'll go the rest of the way without a win.
Either way, Id like to put some shame on the Suns for round 4 and some extra shame on the Demons for their round 2 effort. It would have been nice to see two winless teams battle it out for the Spoon.
Who do you think will take the spoon, and who would you rather see take it?

Well Im glad that Essendon lost. They should have been spooners in 2006, but they knocked us of in round 19, which also cost us 3rd spot on the ladder. (And a chance at that years flag).

I have plenty of Essendon friends who gloat about being "Spoon Free since '33". So it suits me fine.
Essendons next winnable game will be against Gold Coast in a couple weeks time. I'll be hoping the Suns get up in that one too. A 1 win season would be great, but i'll forever put shame on the Dees for giving up that one win!

I think he might get the boot regardless. The Prototype wrote:And ensuring that another week goes by that Leppa is coach, though I would think there is still a lot of pressure on him.
With Ratten and Thompson looking for senior gigs, the Lions might look a new direction. They need to. I wonder if they'd go after one of the Scott twins?

Even after 10 years, I still rue at the fact that we lost to Essendon which cost us a top 4 spot that year.Presti35 wrote:Well Im glad that Essendon lost. At least 10 years later, they will win the spoon as they should have in 2006, but at least Carlton won the spoon in 2006

And similar to 2016, we have a silver lining.Jezza wrote:Even after 10 years, I still rue at the fact that we lost to Essendon which cost us a top 4 spot that year.Presti35 wrote:Well Im glad that Essendon lost.
