When asked whether the League should consider a Suns-Lions merger, Matthews said: "The people who made that decision are still running the AFL and while those people are running the AFL, I don't think anytime soon will there not be two teams in south-east Queensland."
A Suns-Lions merger?! Ridiculous.
"The Suns might win premierships (but) that's not the issue".
But it is. Did he have that attitude when the Lions were winning flags?

It just proves that expanding the competition was ridiculous when 16 teams was already enough teams as it was.

You'd think they've stopped looking to expand further.

I remember talk of north Queensland getting a squad. How about the Cairns Cassowary? :P

I even remember talk about a New Zealand team.

And they wont go near Tasmania.
