Dokic Considers Switch - What do you think?

Dokic considers switch
From correspondents in Linz
October 23, 2003

TENNIS star Jelena Dokic from Serbia-Montenegro said today she again was considering changing her nationality again to gain a spot at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.

Dokic gave up her Australian passport two years ago, but cannot compete in Athens wearing the colours of Serbia-Montenegro because International Tennis Federation rules would only allow her an Olympic start if she played at least one Fed Cup match for her homeland.

"It is easily possible that I become Australian again," Dokic told Austrian press agency APA.

"I want to play at the Olympics, but they are still far away and my main aim is to find my top form again and return to the top ten," she added.

I would welcome Jelena back.

We tend to see her more in the light of her oppressive father, Damir Dokic. She is an Aussie kid, strongly and adversely influenced by Damir.

I say give her time and let's not be too judgemental. She's a very talented tennis player with her best yet to come.
Donny.

It's a game. Enjoy it. :D

Whilst I agree she was influenced by her father she has to be responsible for her own actions. Constantly changing nationality simply to further her tennis career is just not on. She made her bed, she can lie in it!
