Freeman now listed as indefinite.
Looks like he may have done us a solid by leaving.

It is sad, I reckon he'd have to get it right this year or else his future is bleak, not sure how a guy who relies on speed can go 3 years without running at full pace and expect to fullfill his potential.jackcass wrote:Very sad, hopefully he overcomes it and gets to play senior footy.

While many may question some of our recruiting decisions - particularly on the recycled players front - it's astonishing of the players we have let go how many have not worked out for other teams.
- Dale Thomas, dodgy ankles...
- Chris Dawes, dodgy marking technique
- Lumumba, perhaps past his best, albeit he still has a good game here and there
- Freeman .... I rest my case... as perhaps does he!
The one that's a little surprising is Ben Kennedy. I said to a Demons friend of mine that if the coaches could improve his disposal he could be lethal for them. OK the sample size is a little small and they haven't exactly played tough games yet but for mine he looks like he's finally added decent disposal skills to his ability to find the ball and lightning speed. Shame.... we could use a bit more pace!

I hope Freeman gets to play some senior footy. I'm not sad that he wanted to leave Collingwood for more money. If I were in his position and unsure of my future in as an AFL player, I'd want to set up a little nest egg for myself. That's smart thinking. I don't see it as betrayal and I have no sour grapes. After all we're talking about a player's livelihood. I have no idea why anyone would hope that he never plays a game. Here's hoping he gets at least one because for all the work he's done to make it to the big leagues, it would be great for him to get the experience of playing some senior footy.
Kennedy's disposal in the VFL was generally excellent, including kicking long running goals (50m+). It was a mystery to me that he was so abysmal using the ball in the Seniors (exhibit 1 is his ridiculous failure to kick the goal in the Footscray game at Docklands last year). He always had the ability to use the ball and be a damaging small forward/mid, provided he found his feet in the seniors. He couldn't do that at Collingwood (for whatever reason) but perhaps he will at Melbourne.GoWoodsmen wrote:While many may question some of our recruiting decisions - particularly on the recycled players front - it's astonishing of the players we have let go how many have not worked out for other teams.

You could argue the 4 year deal the Eagles gave to Wellingham has been a bust outside last season. Either injured, uninterested or crashing on trampolines!GoWoodsmen wrote:While many may question some of our recruiting decisions - particularly on the recycled players front - it's astonishing of the players we have let go how many have not worked out for other teams.

Yep, really good call. He wanted to go home so I'm counting his a little differently but good call. He hasn't really delivered on what he had with us. Good nom.inxs88 wrote:You could argue the 4 year deal the Eagles gave to Wellingham has been a bust outside last season.
