Never been a fan of Gary Lyon & not on a personal
basis.
I just felt the show became ordinary when he and
Jimbo took over
Bill Brownless played the buffoon well and at least
supplied a human aspect to the show

Eccy Magee has a long history of rumour around him.
Never been the stay at home family man.
Unless it was someone else's family.

Hopefully he will keep it in his pants.

But I will bet u whatever u like he won't be on the couch and off the screens for long.

Has resigned in disgrace - shame he didn't seek help before causing carnage.

Oh sorry I forgot this was about Garry Lyon.
All the best Gaz.

The jungle drums are beating pretty loud about why Garry has had a falling out with Billy. I suspect it's the real reason why he is stepping down. IF he has mental health issues then I wish him well, but I suspect they have come about AS A RESULT of the train wreck he has caused to his own personal life and to that of many of those close to him including his wife, family and mate. Maybe I'm wrong but I just reckon 'mental health' has become an easy cop out these days which is totally unfair to those with genuine issues.

No he didn't, has to learn to keep it in the pants and stay away from white lines, take that to the bank my friend.
There is Collingwood and then the rest.

All the best to Gary Lyon

Post by Hiss »

Very sad to hear the news that a football legend Gary Lyon, host of the top rating Nine Footy Show and icon to so many younger players has stood down from coaching and television duties to receive treatment for unknown mental health issues. On behalf of all Collingwood fans, we wish him all the best for a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing this true hero of the game returning to full duties as soon as he is well. Our thoughts are with Gary at this time.
I love this club and I hold anyone in contempt who does not think it is worth fighting for.

They are not quite so complimentary about him (or Billy) at the Demons website: http://demonland.com/forums/topic/39658 ... less-feud/

Mental Health issues my arse. Having dealt with friends and work colleagues that have real mental health issues I'm sick and tired and everyone now jumping on board the mental health train when things dont quite work out right for them. <snip - please refrain from making assertions about this and other cases; we don't know all the facts at this stage. Thanks, David for BBMods.>

Turn it up. No sympathy. Mental health is a cop out to leave them alone. Were your feelings the same about Buddy? Whenever two mates fall out there is always a woman involved.

I think you have gone early here. What your buying here is a news release from a channel 9 publicist whose sole aim is to placate the scandal, protect the ratings/standing of a flagship program and minimise the fallout by creating sympathy for Garry. What they have failed to say is what has actually occurred to precipitate Garry effectively cracking the sads!

Just like every NRL player, media celebrity or criminal, the 'mental illness card" is being pulled conveniently and inappropriately! Just wait one week and all shall be played out!

it seems his mental state might either be cop out to cover loose behaviour, or his fragility has allowed to slip into a dark place.

Both personal and leave him alone.

For us on the outside of this, so happy to be shot of the arrogant flog.
