Yep - The AFL said they won't as they are weak as water.

So Robbo has to come back and Defend his Best Mate who destroyed the Club he Barracks for.

How is he such a Senior Jurno?

Guess he then Rooted James After the Interview

Looks like it's officially over. Essendon appear to have accepted the verdict of CAS, no appeals this time.

Dave it won't happen, AFL agreed to be bound by WADA's rules, players agree to be bound by AFL.

WADA sent it to CAS therefore its a done deal, no appeal is possible.

Reading the AFL website am I correct in interpreting what is said:
1. suspended players will still get paid
2. 5 rookies to be upgraded
3. 10 supplementary players to be added
4. AFL to give EFC extra money to meet payment of supplementary players
Why 1 and 4? Is that normally the case. Are Keefe and Thomas treated the same way?
No one needs to get hurt, it's only business.

Interestingly, the background at Essendon's press conference had only Essendon logos.

https://twitter.com/EssendonFC/status/6 ... 4197909504

Does that confirm that the sponsors have jumped off-board, or are at least seriously considering their options? Given the massive costs that Essendon have incurred so far, loss of sponsors would be a crippling blow, particularly on top of additional payments to top-up players and highly likely legal action against the club.
Swan is down, Swan kicks the goal! And everything here will be a Magpie celebration!

That generally happens in a time of crisis at most clubs, with us being no exception when the story about Keefe and Thomas first escalated in the media and when Maxy and Shaw were implicated in the betting saga in 2011.

Lindsay Tanner and Xavier Campbell seem to indicate that the club had been in constant dialogue with the club's sponsors and they were confident that these sponsors would maintain its support for the club despite today's events.

Not sure whether the suspended players get their full pay. I think there are some WADA rules regarding the payments.

Really peed off that not only Essendon, but the other clubs with cheats playing for them are allowed to upgrade rookies. We were not allowed to upgrade any rookies to cover the spots of Keeffe and Thomas. I imagine Eddie and Perty will be on the phone asking the AFL why.

For the sake of this sport, this decision had to inevitably be delivered.

What we saw at Essendon in 2011-2012 can never be repeated and must serve as a warning to other clubs that they risk the consequences if they choose this path. It's a good day for those who care about the integrity and dignity of this sport.

Seeing Essendon suffer is a bonus but I'm more pleased that the sport still has some credibility left, albeit I have lost faith in the AFL to handle difficult matters such as this.
