YES!!!!

The disgrace is that it took so many years to get to this.

Next, the players will sue the eyeballs of the coach, the club, the medical staff, and the AFL.

Don't really see how this is a result to celebrate. These players were led astray by the powerful people in their club, and any advantage derived from their injections has surely long since passed. They were not the culprits here and it is unjust that they should be the ones punished.

Ultimately David, the club and those in charge then will be. I think perhaps if they'd put their hand up 3 years ago, things may have worked out differently. The arrogance and poor management of both the AFL and Essendon has come home to roost. The player will sue, and rightly so. I hope they clean up. What Hird & co did is a disgrace, as was their ham fisted attempts/denials...

A victory for players rights at the end of the day.

In that sense, I agree. Just a shame that these particular players have to pay the price.

On a brighter note, Essendon will now only have a maximum of 26 senior players to choose from (plus four rookies, who they may not be able to automatically upgrade). Will they be able to field a team every week?

As much as this is "justice', what does it mean for the competition is the question I'm asking. How the hell does essendon field a team? Will the AFL make new rules for this year? So many repercussions that will occur.

I'm feeling more surprise than joy, except when I think of what James Hird must have looked like when he heard the news.

I wonder how Trent Cotchin and Sam Mitchell feel?

It means the competition cannot push illicit drug use under the carpet as they attempted to do with the 'lame' decision arrived at by the AFL Appeals Court. I, for one, will only continue to support an AFL competition that has base integrity amongst all Clubs as its basis. Short term pain for long term again (even if it's 4 years!).
